Lathan Moses Echols (born January 25, 2002), known professionally as Lil Mosey, is an American rapper, singer and songwriter from Mountlake Terrace, Washington.

He attended Mountlake Terrace High School from 2016 to 2018 until he dropped out to pursue his music career.

His most commercially successful song, "Noticed", peaked at 80 on the Billboard Hot 100.

He also released his debut album with his label, Interscope Records, titled Northsbest in October 2018.

On June 20, 2019, it was announced that Lil Mosey made the 2019 XXL Freshman Class.

Early life

Lathan Moses Stanley Echols was born on January 25, 2002, in Mountlake Terrace, Washington, to a white mother and a half-Puerto Rican, half-black father. He was raised by his mother in the north side of Seattle. He began rapping in his early teens and started his music career in the eighth grade. Echols first attended Mountlake Terrace High School, then transferred to Shorecrest High School in the tenth grade. He later dropped out of school following the success of his song "Pull Up", and went on to pursue his career, heading to Los Angeles to record.

Lil Mosey released his first song, titled "So Bad," on SoundCloud's music streaming service in 2016, which attracted 50,000 viewers. Mosey competed and placed fourth at the Coast 2 Coast Live Seattle All Ages Edition on November 13, 2016.

Mosey's first album, "Pull Up," was his first commercial hit and was his first commercial single. In the first 16 months after its debut, it's music video received over 25 million views on YouTube. Mosey's second commercial single, "Boof Pack," was released on March 14, 2018. Its music video was posted on the WorldStarHipHop channel and gained over 13 million views on YouTube in less than a year since its inception. He released "Noticed" as his third commercial single alongside Cole Bennett's music video directed around four months later. The music video has grown to become one of Lyrical Lemonade's most popular videos, with over 275 million views to date. "Mosey and his companions live the good life in this series as they relax in a posh apartment overlooking a stunning beach."

On October 19, 2018, he debuted Northsbest, which features three of his previously released singles as well as eight other tracks. On "Yoppa," the album's fourth single, which was released two weeks before the album, BlocBoy JB. After the album's debut, Northsbest produced several songs that became sleeper hits, such as "Kamikaze," "Burberry Headband" and "Greet Her." The album's opening track, "Kamikaze," was aided by a Lyrical Lemonade music video, which raised the album's success. To date, the music video has been watched more than 80,000 times.

Mosey's new song, "Bust Down Cartier," was released on March 15. It was designed by Mosey himself and it was included in his debut studio album Northsbest, dubbed Northsbest (Extended), with Northsbest being the only additional track on the album. Cole Bennett's directed music video on Lyrical Lemonade, which has received over 15 million views to date, was accompanied by the song. He released "G Walk," the lead single from his forthcoming second studio album titled Certified Hitmaker, just three months later. Chris Brown, an American singer, appears on the album. On September 17, "Stuck in a Dream" was followed by fellow American rapper Gunna. The album debuted at number 62 on the Billboard Hot 100, overtaking the number 80 peak of "Noticed" by the artist. The song's music video, which premiered on Mosey's official YouTube channel on the same day, has over 40 million views to date.

Certified Hitmaker was released on November 8, 2019, containing the two aforementioned singles as well as "Live This Wild," the album's third single, which was released three days before. Trippie Redd and AJ Tracey's new guest appearances on the album.

After being leaked on streaming platform Spotify throughout 2019, Mosey released the single "Blueberry Faygo" on February 7, 2020, gaining attention and going viral. The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 62, tying with "Stuck in a Dream" in a tie. It later became his most popular song on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 8 and charting well internationally. The certified hitmaker was reissued on the same day as "Blueberry Faygo," the only addition to the tracklist. The song's music video premiered on Lyrical Lemonade a month later and has earned over 275 million views since then. Along with "Noticed," it has also grown to become one of the channel's most watched music videos. This was Mosey's fourth collaboration with Cole Bennett after "Noticed" and "Kamikaze" in 2018 and "Bust Down Cartier" in 2019.

In anticipation for the album's deluxe version, Mosey released "Back at It" starring fellow American rapper Lil Baby on June 26, ahead of the album's deluxe edition's debut. On August 5, Puerto Rican rapper Lunay appeared in the second single of the deluxe "Top Gone" collection. On August 14, 2020, the upgraded version of Certified Hitmaker, which was marketed as Certified Hitmaker (AVA Leak), was released. It includes both the two singles as well as three additional tracks.

Mosey teased a new venture by playing a snippet of new music in an interview with The Hollywood Fix on August 30. Universal was later revealed to be a new mixtape. The mixtape will be a bridge between Certified Hitmaker and his forthcoming third studio album, The Land of Make Believer. Mosey's YouTube channel shared a video on October 1, 2020 honoring FIFA's world premiere of FIFA 21, which doubles as Universal's trailer. Mosey wears a custom jersey and appears in "Bands Out Th Roof," "Blueberry Faygo," and "Live This Wild" in this series.

Mosey appeared on various artists' albums throughout 2020, most notably "Wrong" by Australian rapper The Kid Laroi, a track from his debut commercial mixtape F*ck Love. Logan Paul, an American social media celebrity, supervised the song's music video premiered on September 18 and was directed by American social media star Logan Paul. Lana Rhoades, an American pornstar, also appeared on the show, contributing to the video's success, having been watched more than 60 million times. Mosey appeared on several other albums, including fellow American rapper Iann Dior and Lil Skies, "Only The Team" by fellow American rapper Trippie Redd, "Only The Team" by fellow American rapper Ryan Tjay, as well as American rapper Tyga and Swae Lee from "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge On the Run's soundtrack, which also features American rapper Ty Dolla $ign, as well as Australian rapper Tyga

Mosey's original lead single for his upcoming mixtape Universal, "Jumpin Out the Face" was released on November 13, 2020, as well as a accompanying music video.

Mosey celebrated "Holy Water" as his second single for Universal on January 25, 2021, his nineteenth birthday. He released "Enough," his third single, two weeks later, two weeks later, which coincided with the publication of Valentine's Day. "Try Me" was his fourth album on March 15, his fourth single. The first day was the launch of its music video, which has been watched over 13 million times. Mosey appeared on "Jetski," a single released by American record label Internet Money, just days later. Lil Tecca, a fellow American rapper, appears on the album, with whom Mosey had been feuding with since 2019. The song also marked the end of their escalating feud. After Mosey's rape allegations surfaced in April 20, he took a three-month absence from music before resuming with "How I Been" and "Problem Solvin" in July, two songs released solely on his official YouTube channel. He released "Pass Out," his first song to be released without the support of his label, Interscope Records, two months later. To celebrate the album's two-year anniversary, Mosey released a joint music video for "So Fast" and "Speed Racin," two songs from his second studio album Certified Hitmaker, on November 9, two songs from his second studio album Mosey. On December 10, Mosey first released the single "Not The Same God As Mine" as his first official single post-allegations. Multiple singles were released in 2022, including "Ain't It A Flex," "Falling" and "Breathin Repeats," followed this. It is currently unknown if these songs will appear on Universal. Mosey performed on "Bipolar," an Argentine rapper LIT killah's single, on May 26, 2022.

Mosey launched Certified Hitmakers, his own record label, in 2020.

Following a hearing in Washington state, Rapper Lil Mosey was not found not guilty of second-degree rape. According to TMZ, the 21-year-old Krabby Step hitmaker was 'cleared of all charges by a jury' on Thursday. The musician, born Lathan Moses Stanley Echols, pleaded not guilty to the charges, which stemmed from 2021, and according to reports, a polygraph test was conducted 'with flying colors.'
