Park Jung-hyun (born March 23, 1976), also known as Lena Park (born South Korean singer who debuted in 1998 with the album, Piece.

She is known in South Korea as "the nation's fairy" due to her petite body and powerful singing voice.

Early life and education

Born in Los Angeles, California, Park began singing as a child in the choir of her father's church. She won several singing contests before recording an amateur gospel album in 1993 when she was 16 years old.

Park attended UCLA for one year before beginning her singing career in 1998. She later transferred to Columbia University School of General Studies, where she graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in English and Comparative Literature in 2010, and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.

Career

Piece, Park's first Korean album, was released in 1998. The album has more than 500,000 copies. She didn't speak Korean well at the time, making it difficult for her to connect with fans. In 1999, A Second Helping was published. Both supporters and critics alike loved it. Park's third album, naturally, was mixed in both South Korea and the United States.

She came back in 2002 with Op.4, after a year long absence from performing due to her time in the United States. As she became more comfortable with the media, she became more available for talk shows and performances. Her album "In a Dream"), which was released in 2002, was a huge success, enabling her to enter new markets, such as Singapore. In the 2002 FIFA World Cup's opening and closing ceremonies, the South Korean government selects Park to represent South Korea. At the end of 2002, a "best of" album was released, and she appeared in a number of concerts. Live recordings from these concerts were assembled into her first special live album in CDs and DVDs. Park, along with Brown Eyes (band), Chemistry (band), and Sowelu, formed the exclusive unit "Voices of Korea/Japan" and composed the title track for the 2002 FIFA World Cup Official Album – Songs of Korea/Japan. She debuted in the Japanese music market, where she had modest success.

She is particularly proud of her fifth Korean language collection, On & On, because she feels she was finally relaxed and confident singing and writing in Korean. She took about two years to make the album; during this time, she became very involved with the production and creative process; she assisted with many of the tracks' recording, played the piano and guitar for some of the tracks, and composed four of the songs on the album. In 2007, she appeared in Inori (You Raise Me Up) of the Japanese anime television series Romeo x Juliet, which is a Japanese translation of Rolf Lvland and Brendan Graham's song You Raise Me Up. A cover of the English version is included in the single. Come To Where I Am, her sixth Korean album, was released on December 11, 2007. Both songs were written and produced by herself. On February 27, 2009, she debuted 10 Ways to Say I Love You with nine new tracks and "Secret" () as the lead track. "Flood of tears" was released on June 6, the same year, when she had a repackaged version of the same song.

After announcing the release of her eighth studio album, videos of her performing with composers who were collaborating with her album announcing her songs were posted online. Her album Parallax, a Brazilian pop band Camila's Spanish language song Mientes, was released shortly after, on June 19, 2012. (Korean: ) (Korean: ) After that, she appeared on Psy's What Would Have Been (ottessulkka) in July, which sold over 2.000.000 digital copies in 2012. With a resurrecting of Parallax album songs and where she performs again the songs of I Am a Singer, she released White Winter () at the end of the year.

In 2013, she unveiled the front of Atlantis Girl (), originally sung by BoA for the hwangseongje project superhero 1st Line up, and the O.S.T. My Everything for the variety series We Got Married and the O.S.T. My Heirs romance escaped me (Just In My Heart). She won the special episode of I Am A Singer - Best 10 ( Best 10), defeating Insooni by only three votes on September 18, 2013.

Syncrofusion () and the M/V of Double Kiss, a company launched in 2014 in Stockholm, with "Syncrofusion" and a cover of her song Sweet (); feat. Verbal Jint) is the lead track on the script. Michael Bolton performed Completely in Immortal Songs 2 (2) for the first time in Lee Sun-hee special, performing Turning the Pages of Memories (). In December, she collaborated with Dynamic Duo on "SsS" () digital single.

On KBS World Radio New, she became an English-speaking DJ for the newest KBS radio show, One Fine Day. Park signed a management deal with LOEN Entertainment (now kakao M)'s indie sub-label "Mun Hwa In" in December. She appeared in Mnet's The Master for three episodes in December, performing a different version of her hit ("In Dreams"), (Miss Havisham's Waltz) and left the show covering. Lena Park has been invited to begin Lena Park, the second season of a reality show in which famous musicians from South Korea will perform. As the last year, she played her solo winter concert at the SK Olympic Handball Stadium from December 22-26.

She appeared on Begin Again 2 in the first months of 2018, and on February 27 she performed on the 10th anniversary of composer Lee Young-hoon's death. "The Woman Outside The Window" was the first part of the Pohang Culture and Arts Center's 50th Anniversary Celebration Concert on April 7. In May, Lena Park's team appeared for the first time in Begin Again 2 in the seventh episode introducing her team, replacing the Kim Yoon-ah team. She could perform some of her hits, including 'In Dreams,' (Sweet) and You Mean Everything To Me, duet very often with her team's leader, Lee Su-hyun of Akdong Musician, on the program. Adele's cover of Someone Like You on television received a lot of success. Over 50.000 people have visited Naver's web page, out of 50.000. On June 19th, she released The Wonder 1st DS with a title track and opened The Wonder Tour during the summer. Let It Snow, In 20 November, she returns with The Wonder 2nd DS and performs again in the Christmas season.

Dream for the 30th anniversary of Lotte World's amusement park, and after few days, she performed the album and its music video for the 100th anniversary of the country's first independence movement (March 1st Movement), with Yuna Kim and (Jeong Jae-ill). In April, Begin Again (3)'s third season will be announced, and she will be a member of Henry, Su-Hyun, Harim, and the new members, Lim Heon and Kim Feeling. With John Park in May, Disney Korea selected her to promote Aladdin (), and their Korean pop version of A Whole New World (arumdaun sesang) was released on May 13th (). On May 13, she became the O.S.T. after a few days, on May 13th. (byeolbijjeorom; Like A Starlight) for the drama My Absolute Boyfriend (; Jeoldae Geui) On July, her 9th full-length album was set to be released on July, seven years after her last project, Parallax (2012). The Wonder of You (Gachi; With You) is the title track on her ninth album, and Lena's latest singles (kieokahaja; "Remember") and "Seventeen," which were written and composed by Lena, were released on July 18th.

She will perform 'Now' at the LG Art Center in Seoul from October 19 to 22 in October 2022.
