Life and career
Lee Seung-hoon was born in Dongnae District, Busan, South Korea, on January 11, 1992, as the youngest of two siblings to succeed. Lee recalls little interactions with him in his youth, despite the fact that the bulk of his time in Asia was spent abroad. When he was a boy, his eldest sister had already migrated to Seoul. Lee pursued dance at a young age and became keen to join YG Entertainment after his high school debut; however, his interest in dance culminated in severe back pains, limiting Lee to choreograph when it appeared and relied on acupuncture for his nerves.
Lee, 20, (Korean age), 20, moved to Seoul after completing his secondary school in an effort to work in the music industry. After watching Hoya of Infinite, a fellow competitor in dance from his hometown, fulfil his aspirations, his enthusiasm was lifted. Lee then formed the dance group "Honest Boys" (n.e. baleun aideul) with colleagues from Busan, where they showcased their performances on the streets of Seoul. The trio auditioned for Korea's Got Talent (2011) for the first time; however, his team was quickly dismissed from the talent show posterior to their promotion from the preliminaries. He had also applied for entertainment companies but did not succeed. Lee joined a choreography crew, became their team leader, developed a dance routine for G-Dragon of Big Bang, as well as their 2011 flash mob appearance for Bean Pole and their campaign.
Lee successfully auditioned for the inaugural season of K-pop Star (2011–2012), a music audition service, in his last attempt at pursuing his dream. He was lauded for renting a four pyeong (13.22 square meter) room just a minute away from YG Entertainment, home to his favorite artists. His ingenuity and wittiness stood out to many, as shown in Dynamic Duo's "Father"'s front cover (; abeoji). Lee was credited by the hip-hop pair for more contributing to their songs than their initial success, which resulted in more money. Specifically, G-Dragon and Psy expressed their curiosity and added that they were following him and his performance. BoA expressed her eagerness to work with him, though JYP Entertainment CEO Park Jin-young said Lee was the only contestant she regarded as a "true artist." In addition, K.Will said that his performances were the most inspiring apropose to it. He came in fourth, behind Park Jimin, Lee Hi, and Baek Ayeon. His newfound fame came after an appearance on Strong Heart, Seoul's Youth Festival, and a spread called "Boys Like Girls" in Vogue Girl Korea for the month of June with K-pop star contestant Jae Park. In May, He and Lee Higgins signed an exclusive deal with YG Entertainment and were moved to the company's trainee program.
Lee will shine best in a boy band, according to YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun-suk's plan to debut in a new team; however, he was a contestant who competed for a prize: Who is Next? Two groups of male trainees under the banner (A and B) were involved in the 2013 production of a one-day film, with two assembles consisting of male trainees under the banner (A and B), who were vying for the opportunity to debut at the end of the series after embarking on a one-hundred day journey. Lee was put in "Team A" with Kim Jin-woo, Song Min-ho, Kang Seung-yoon, and Nam Tae-hyun. Team A had won the contest and would debut under the banner "Winner" in the series finale. Lee made his official debut with the five-piece band on August 17, 2014, with the studio album titled 2014 S/S. By Korean media outlets, the band's success on debut was described as "unprecedented" and dubbed "monster rookies."
Lee ventured into entertainment, including Eat, Sleep, Eat: Krabi (2016) with Baek Jong-won and Gong Seung-yeon, Mimi Shop (2018) with the inclusion of labelmate Sandara Park and Law of the Jungle in Mexico (2018). He also served as the youngest dance mentor in Dancing High (2018) and enriched the lives of teens in South Korea by assisting them in their growth as dancers in the hopes of winning dance lessons in the United States. His accolades include Awesome Feed (2018), Door-to-Door Salesmen (2020), and I Want to Be a Celebrity (2022).
