Lauren Tolbert Worsham (born April 4, 1982) is an American actress and singer best known for her appearances in the opera and musical theater.

For her role in A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

She is also known as the lead singer of the band Sky-Pony, which has released two albums of original songs titled "Say You Love Me Like You Mean It" and "Raptured Live."

Early life and education

Belinda (née Petty) and Dennis Worsham, a real estate agent, are among Worsham's children. She was born in Austin, Texas, and graduated from Yale University with a degree in Spanish. She was heavily involved in theatre and music while attending Yale and appeared with Shades, the acapella group. She travelled to Edinburgh to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as a student at Yale. Parker Ainsworth, a singer, has a brother who is also a singer.

Personal life

Kyle Jarrow was married in 2011 by Katie Jarrow. The two partners are longtime collaborators and live in Brooklyn, New York. Worsham and Jarrow announced in December 2015 that they were expecting their first child.

Career

In 2005, one of Worsham's first jobs was working at the Shubert Theatre in Spamalot. Ruth Hendel, Tony Award-winning Broadway producer Ruth Hendel, also served as a personal assistant for several years. In 2006, she appeared as Olive Ostrovsky in the first national tour of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which was staged by Celia Keenan-Bolger on Broadway.

She appeared in Candide's New York City Opera performance in 2008 and also appeared Clara Johnson in the Weston Playhouse's rendition of The Light in the Piazza. Worsham also placed second in the Lotte Lenya Singing Competition in 2009. Sophie de Palma appeared in Master Class's Paper Mill Playhouse production in 2009 and Cinderella in Kansas City Rep.'s Into the Woods.

Lili Daurier played a leading role in Carnival in 2010. At the Goodspeed Opera House. Worsham received acclaim for orchestrating Lisa's role in the opera Dog Days in 2012, and she appeared in The Turn of the Screw, a New York City Opera performance.

Phoebe D'Ysquith, a woman who was on Broadway for the first time in 2014, was nominated for the 2014 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Worsham received the 2014 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical (in a tie with Anika Larsen) for this role. In November 2014, she made her New York Philharmonic debut as Magnolia in a revival of Kern and Hammerstein's Show Boat.

Worsham created The Coterie, a theatre company directed by Royce Vady Vayk that creates and performs original works.
