Lasse Schöne (Danish pronunciation: [lsn]; born 27 May 1986) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder or winger for Ecu and the Danish national team. He is known for his set piece skills.
Schöne spent his entire career in the Netherlands, with Heerenveen, De Graafschap, NEC, and Ajax, before heading to Genoa in 2019. He scored 85 goals in the Netherlands during his time in the Netherlands.
Schöne scored on his full international debut in 2009 and was a member of the Danish squad at UEFA Euro 2012 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Club career
Schöne, a native of Glostrup, began playing youth football with Himmelev-Veddelev BK, then to Tstrup B.70 and Lyngby. He joined Heerenveen's youth team in 2002. He spent four years with the team but then moved to De Graafsch, a football club. He helped De Graafschap win promotion to the Economia in his first season. He scored 12 goals in 70 games in his two seasons with De Graafschap.
Schöne signed for NEC in the summer of 2008. In December 2008, he scored the team's winning goal against Spartak Moscow, who advanced the team to the next round of the UEFA Cup. He was named NEC's Player of the Year by the club and the fans, a title he also won at his previous club, De Graafschap.
Schöne joined Ajax on a long-serving contract until 2015. A number of other Danish players, including Michael Laudrup, who had been a role model for him throughout his career, had played for Ajax. In 2014, the club and the fans voted him as the year's best player of the year. On March 2, 2015, he signed a new deal that will run into summer 2017, and on February 22, 2017, he signed a new one that will expires until summer 2019. He became the international player with the most games played for Ajax on February 27, 2019, defeating Sren Lerby's 269 games.
Schöne converted a direct free kick that went past Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois on March 5th, Ajax's last goal of the Round of 16-second leg in the UEFA Champions League. The win brought about a dramatic comeback for the Dutch side, who defeated 4–1 at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and 5–3 on aggregate to knock the European Champions out of the Champions League.
Schöne joined Serie A club Genoa on a two-year deal on August 9, 2019. According to the report, the fee was €1.5 million. In an eventual 2–1 loss against Milan, he scored his first goal giving the lead. He also missed a 90th-minute penalty kick in the same match.
In October, 2020, the former Ajax star learned he was effectively frozen out of the first Genoa team because he could not be selected for Serie A football without being identified on their list of eligible players. His agent was dissatisfied with this and wants to take legal proceedings, saying that cases similar to this had already been investigated by FIFA and the CAS. He was not involved in Rolando Maran's plans, and was told he could end his contract early if he wishes to leave as a free agent. Schone, one of the 17 Genoa players diagnosed with COVID-19, and a transfer seemed to be a far away option in the final days of the window due to the fact that both he and his repulsor did not know that he was one of the first Genoa players was not registered. His employment was terminated on January 7, 2021.
Schöne had signed with SC Heerenveen on a six-month deal, marking his return to the club where he played from 2002 to 2006. Schöne is hoping to return to the Danish national team for the UEFA Euro 2020.

International career
Schöne began his international career with the Denmark national under-16 team, scoring a goal on his debut in August 2001. He played in ten games and scored one goal for the under-17 and under-18 teams from July 2002 to March 2004. Schöne made his debut for the under-21 team in March 2007. He played in nine games and scored one goal for the under-21s until October 2008.
Schöne scored less than a minute after being brought to action in the second half on August 12, 2009, on his debut for the Denmark senior team in a friendly against Chile. In an eventual 1–2 loss at the Brndby Stadium, the goal was the equalizer.
Due to a knee injury, he was unable to participate in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
