Kyler Murray Career

High school career

Murray was born in Bedford, Texas, to Kevin Murray and Misun Henderson. He attended Allen High School in Allen, Texas. He was the first player to be named Mr. Texas Football twice as a senior in 2014 and was the first player to be named Mr. Texas Football twice. His team won three straight state championships and 43 games in a row. He got off to a bad start during his tenure as a starting quarterback and ended his career with a perfect 42-0 record.

Murray was named as a five-star recruiter and the highest dual-threat quarterback in his class by ESPN, Scout.com, and 247Sports. He committed to Texas A&M University in May 2014 to play college football and college baseball. On February 4, 2015, he officially joined them.

Murray played baseball and was one of the top prospects for the 2015 Major League Baseball draft. Murray was both a shortstop and a second baseman in high school. He was the first player to be selected for both the Under Armour All-America Baseball Game and the Under Armour All-America Football Game.

College career

Murray played with Kyle Allen for the starting quarterback position as a true freshman in 2015. Allen completed his education, with Murray appearing in games as a back-up (mainly because of the wildcat formation). The game was declared again ahead of the South Carolina game after the team lost two straight games in October. Murray took the starting quarterback role. Murray threw for 223 yards and rushed for 156 yards with a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown, making him and Cam Newton the only Southeastern Conference quarterbacks to gain over 100 yards passing and rushing in their first career appearance. Murray threw for 105 yards while throwing three interceptions and rushing for 37 yards in the 26–10 loss in his second game against Auburn. In the 41–17 blowout victory, he recovered from his last game against Western Carolina, throwing for 191 yards, 3 touchdowns, and two interceptions. Allen was named the starting quarterback and Murray was suspended for the remainder of the season after the game, and Murray was suspended for the remainder of the season.

Murray revealed on December 24, 2015, that he was heading to the University of Oklahoma. He was required to miss the 2016 season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Murray served as a back-up quarterback to Baker Mayfield in the 2017 season. In lieu of Mayfield relief, he had the opportunity to participate in some games. In the season opener against UTEP, he made his debut on the season. He came into the game in the second half and finished 10-of-11 for 149 yards and a touchdown in a 56–7 win. He made all three pass attempts for 103 yards and a touchdown against Tulane two weeks later. He started the game against West Virginia on November 25, after Mayfield had to miss some of the game due to discipline problems in the previous game against the Kansas Jayhawks. He made the game with two pass attempts for 52 yards and a touchdown, while still carrying 80 rushing yards on three carries.

Murray and Austin Kendall were drafted without Mayfield, Oklahoma, and in 2018, they were ruled out to start at quarterback. Murray was selected as the starting quarterback by the University of Iowa. In the 2018 regular season, he threw for more than 4,000 yards and 42 touchdowns, as well as rush for over 1,000 yards and 12 passing touchdowns. Murray was named the best collegiate football player in the country in December 2018, the first-ever Heisman trophy to Oklahoma's back-to-back Heisman winners. Murray was instrumental in Oklahoma's victory in the Big 12 Championship and appearance in the College Football Playoff. The Sooners lost by a score of 45-34 after he threw for 308 passing yards and two passing touchdowns in the 2018 Orange Bowl against Alabama. Murray was the only third Heisman Trophy winner not to be given unanimous All-American honors.

Murray dropped out of the MLB draft after deciding to attend Texas A&M. He was supposed to play for the Texas A&M Aggies baseball team in the 2016 season until he announced his release from Texas A&M on December 17, 2015.

(RBIs) He played collegiate summer baseball for the Cape Cod Baseball League, starting with the Harwich Mariners. Murray, who was a centerfielder, batted.296 with 10 home runs, 47 RBIs, and ten stolen bases in 2018.

Despite Murray's reported intention to resume his football career, the Oakland Athletics selected Murray with the ninth overall pick of the 2018 MLB draft. He signed a $4.66 million signing bonus as part of his deal with the Athletics. Murray said he would spring training in 2019 to start his professional baseball career prior to his junior year with the football team. However, following his Heisman Trophy-winning 2018 season, he would forego his senior year and enter the NFL Draft. If the A's return to baseball, he will keep his rights.

Professional career

Murray revealed in January 2019 that he will draft the 2019 NFL Draft. He revealed on February 11 that he would not focus on his football career rather than playing baseball.

Murray's decision to pursue a football career at the expense of a potential one in baseball was deemed out of place by some, given his inexperience relative to a typical NFL quarterback. Murray was not supposed to reach his 5'10" height at the NFL Combine because colleges often exaggerate figures in order to make players more appealing to professional teams. Murray's final measurements were 5'10 1/8" and 207 pounds, roughly the same as that of then-Seattle Seahawks starting quarterback Russell Wilson.

Despite not participating in individual drills at the combine, many saw Murray's draft stock rise as a result of his higher-than-expected results, but some football scouts and pundits remain skeptical of the official listing. On the other hand, NFL Network reporter Charley Casserly said Murray had "the worst report I've ever seen on a top-ranked quarterback from the interview portion of it," though Murray's agent disagreed with this report. Gil Brandt also challenged Casserly's allegations. Multiple publications and sports websites had him ranked as the best quarterback prospect available.

Murray was drafted first overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2019 NFL Draft, becoming the shortest quarterback drafted in the first round. Coach Kliff Kingsbury said he'd hypothetically invest Murray's top pick in the draft's case. Murray was the first quarterback to be drafted in both the NFL and MLB drafts, the first time two quarterbacks from the same university have been drafted in the first round of either the NFL and MLB drafts since Baker Mayfield was drafted first in the 2018 NFL Draft and first quarterback under six feet selected number one in an NFL draft. Murray agreed to a four-year deal with the Cardinals on May 9, 2019.

Murray played his first NFL game against the Detroit Lions on September 8, 2019, finishing with 308 passing yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. The game ended in a 27-27 draw. Kyler Murray's fantastic 13-yard run to set up the win over the Falcons on the return from ACL injury, according to the Arizona Cardinals

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 14, 2023
Kyler Murray's 13-yard scramble against the Atlanta Falcons was absolutely stunning, according to the Arizona Cardinals. Murray ended up running back at least 15 yards from where he was caught the snap before escaping a would-be-tackler and accelerating through the defense before eventually diving forward to gain an additional yard or two. The 2019 No. 13 had a much more successful run than any before. Before tearing his right ACL last season, the 1 overall pick's knee was back to being healthy enough for him to be the same disruptive threat to defenses.

Murray was forced to miss his Week 14 match against the New England Patriots last season due to a tear in his ACL. The Cardinals' video crew, who compiled a video showcasing Murray's ride from here to now, was instrumental in his recovery.

Josh Dobbs is the aerospace engineer who worked at NASA but turned down a career in a galaxy far, far away and has used his rocket arm to become the Vikings' own Passtronaut!

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 11, 2023
Although some will argue that to play quarterback in the NFL, you must first be a rocket scientist, and processing data in split seconds is living proof. Dobbs spent time at NASA with a degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Tennessee. However, he turned down a career in space for a career in aerospace and instead focused on becoming a shooting star in the NFL. Dobbs was drafted by Pittsburgh in 2017 and spent his career as a backup until joining the Tennessee Titans (his fifth team) last term.
