Kurt Braunohler (born February 22, 1976) is an American comedian and host of The K Ohle with Kurt Braunohler podcast on the Nerdist network.
He was previously the host of IFC's comedy game show Bunk and has appeared on Comedy Central, This American Life, and Radiolab.
Braunohler is a frequent collaborator with Kristen Schaal, with whom he created the web series Penelope Princess of Pets.
Personal life
Braunohler was born in Neptune, New Jersey. He attended Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He became engaged to Lauren Cook in April 2014, and the two were married on September 28, 2014.
Career
Kurtbot was Braunohler's first big project. This was a collection of street comedy sketches as well as a website that related to it. Chengwin's street theatre venture had more success. His work with the company received a number of accolades, including being named "Best Hilarious Insane Guerilla Theatre" by the Village Voice in 2008.
Braunohler initiated the Neutrino Video Projects in 2004. His work with the company earned widespread acclaim, and in 2005, the group travelled to the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, as well as Edinburgh's Festival Fringe. The Chicago Improv Festival named "Improv Ensemble of the Year" for the Neutrino Video Projects in 2004.
Braunohler co-hosted Hot Tub with Kristen Schaal in 2005, which was named "Best Variety Show of 2005" by Time Out NY's reader poll.
Braunohler appeared in the critically acclaimed film The Big Sick in 2017.
