Kris Van Assche (born 12 May 1976 in Belgium) is a Belgian fashion designer.
Kris is the creative director of Berluti, ultra luxury leather brand of LVMH.
Early life and education
Van Assche grew up an only child in Belgium’s Flemish-speaking region of Londerzeel, between Antwerp and Brussels. He studied women’s wear at the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, in Antwerp from 1994 to 1998.

Van Assche lives in Paris and has two Siam cats, named Frida ( born: 2013) and Diego after Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. He speaks fluent French, Dutch and English.
Career
Van Assche moved to Paris in 1998 after graduating. Hedi Slimane's first assistant for the Rive Gauche Homme brand was deployed at Yves Saint Laurent straight away.
Christian Dior's partnership with Slimane continued during the introduction and refinement of the Dior Homme collection until September 2004. During Men's Fashion Week in January 2005, Van Assche unveiled his own men's collection for the first time in Paris.
Van Assche, a former Dior man, began his own label in 2005. In June 2013, he opened the first KRISVANASSCHE boutique in Paris. It was designed by Cid and built in the 1st arrondissement of Saint Roch's 16 rue.
KRISVANASSCHE collaborated with American denim brand Lee to produce two capsule collections in 2012 and 2013.
Van Assche announced in late May 2015 that he would discontinue his personal brand due to the difficulties of being an independent label.
Van Assche served as the artistic director of Dior Homme from April 2007 to March 2018.
Following Haider Ackermann's departure, Van Assche was named as the new creative director at luxury brand Berluti, another LVMH company. In January 2019, Berluti's first Berluti collection was unveiled.
Van Assche joined forces with art dealer François Laffanour to unveil a series of 17 original Pierre Jeanneret furniture pieces, refurbished by Laffanour and upholstered with Berluti's emblematic Venezia leather, in honor of the 2019 Design Miami fair.
