Personal life
Jassal is the youngest of a family of four children. Ranjit Kaur, a lawyer from Malaysia, was the champion of Miss Grand Malaysia 2015, while her elder sister, Dr. Ranmeet Jassal, was the national champion of Miss Grand Malaysia 2016. She wants to study dentistry eventually. In July 2016, Jassal said that she would not give up on dentistry because "regardless of anything." Jassal intends to establish her own orthodontic practice in the future. She is of Punjabi origins and a Sikh.
Career
On January 30, 2016, Jassal was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2016 at the Golden Horses Hotel in Seri Kembangan, Malaysia. Vanessa Tevi, the outgoing titleholder of Miss Universe Malaysia 2015, was crowned her. In addition to the main title, she was also granted the "Miss My Dentist Winning Smile" subordinate title.
Jassal represented Malaysia at the Miss Universe 2016 and was selected for the Best in National Costume award, alongside Miss Venezuela and Miss Myanmar. She portrayed Malaysia in a costume based on the Petronas Twin Towers. Rizman Ruzaini, Malaysia's top fashion designer, also designed her evening gown, created the National Costume.
Jassal was on the floor for the 2016 L'Oréal Professionnel Colour For Life hair fashion charity event with Deborah Henry and supermodel Amber Chia.
