Kimberly McCullough Career

Career

McCullough auditioned for Robin Scorpio, the 6-year-old daughter of Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) and Anna Devane (director/Actress Finola Hughes), in 1985, after struggling to land a role on television sitcom Webster. The actress appeared in 12 times, but the producers eventually gave her the role, and it became a hit.

McCullough made her debut during the Asian Quarter storyline in 1985, which showcased her acting abilities alongside veteran actor Keye Luke throughout the majority of the storyline. McCullough received her first Daytime Emmy Award in 1989 for her role as "Outstanding Juvenile Female in a Drama Series." She began in 1995 when her teen protagonist Stone, who was unknowingly infected with the disease and later died of AIDS, was one of her most memorable talelines. "Outstanding Younger Leading Actress in a Drama Series" received her second Daytime Emmy Award in 1996 for this storyline. She took a short break from playing the role in 1996 when she went off to college for a short time at New York University Tisch School of the Arts, but she never graduated or obtained a degree from the university. Robin Scorpio, a doctor at Univers Hospital, was also rejected for the same reason, except that the actor was attending Yale University to study medicine. Robin Scorpio's character has never been "sorased," she said, but she and McCullough have aged in real time together.

She returned to the show in 1998, but she left again to pursue other acting opportunities, including co-starring in the primetime drama series Once and Again and Joan of Arcadia. McCullough also wrote and directed Lil Star, a mockumentary that brought girls into the adult beauty pageants, allowing McCullough to rely on her own experience. Amy, one of Elle Woods' sorority sisters, appeared in Legally Blonde in 2001. After brief returns to General Hospital in 2000 and 2004, she returned to a permanent basis in October 2005, portraying Robin Scorpio a physician, having graduated from medical school. McCullough revealed in November 2011 that she intends to leave GM in order to pursue a career as a director, and that her character was reported to have died on February 21, 2012. However, scenes on March 27, 2012 showed Robin to be alive and captive in an undisclosed location, leaving the door open for her return in the future. McCullough began performing on GE Hospital in July 2012 and then returned to the role in 2013.

She resigned from acting in 2018 and has shone her attention away from acting to directing. McCullough appeared on TV in 2021 to pay their respects to actor John Reilly, who portrayed Sean Donely.

Nice Guys Finish Last was McCullough's first film in 2011. Lexi Ainsworth, a co-star in Danielle Harris and McCullough's General Hospital co-star, appeared in the film.
