Kim Sung-kyu Life

Kim Sung-kyu (born April 28, 1989), also known as Sunggyu or Sungkyu, is a South Korean singer and actress.

Infinite's leader and main vocalist, He is the leader and main vocalist. Sungkyu's first extended play, Another Me, debuted at number one on the Gaon Album Chart in November 2012.

He continued to perform his extended play, 27 (2015), debuted on the Gaon Album Chart and number eight on The Billboard World Album, and earned two top-ten singles "The Answer" and "Kontrol," a South Korean top-ten hit song.

Early life

Kim Sung-kyu was born in Jeonju, South Korea, on April 28, 1989. He attended Jeonju National University High School and was part of "Coma Beat" school rock band. When Kim first told his parents that they should pursued his aspirations as a singer, they refused because they wanted him to have a normal life and told him they'd rather he leave the house rather than him. After graduating from high school, he continued to practice in secrecy and moved to Seoul alone to fulfill his aspirations.

He auditioned for SM Entertainment in 2007, but he didn't make the cut, and auditioned again in 2008, only to fail once more. He first auditioned at Woollim Entertainment due to his admiration for rock band Nell, who'd been invited to work part-time in the café. Kim went to his audition with a bloated stomach and said, "If you don't choose me, you're going to regret it." He rushed to the hospital right away and underwent an appendectomy. He received a note on the day of his emergence that he had failed his audition. Kim originally intended to pursue rock music in a band but ended up as a student for Infinite, of which he would later assume the roles of both leader and lead vocalist. Despite being mocked by his classmates at school, he still saw it as a possibility and persisted. Kim made his Infinite debut on June 9, 2010, on June 9.

SKim graduated from Daekyung University's Practical Music program on February 15, 2013, and was awarded the 'Proud Daekyung University Student Award' alongside L, Sungyel, Hoya, and Dongwoo in the hopes that the group will continue to grow and bring honor to the school. The participants were admitted through a special screened admittance process in early 2011. Kim was a student at Hoseo University studying Practical Music.

Kim made his debut as the head and chief vocalist of South Korean boyband Infinite in 2010. The company debuted on June 9, 2010. He appeared in Epik High's music video "Run" together with fellow members Woohyun, Sungyeol, L, and Sungjong in the same years.

While Super Junior's Leeteuk and Eunhyuk were missing, Kim and Infinite members Lee Sung-yeol and Lee Sung-jong became the special DJs for Super Junior's Kiss the Radio. They were in charge of the radio broadcast from October 24 to the 30th of 2011.

The children's cartoon Wara Store was sold by Kim and others from December 27, 2011 to March 27, 2012.

In the musical "Gwanghwamun Sonata," Kim made his debut as a musical actor, as well as band member Woohyun. Kim plays Jiyong, the male lead's son. From January 3 to March 11, 2012, the musical ran from January 3 to March 11, 2012.

Kim was confirmed to be a fixed cast on JTBC's High Society 2 in January 2013, as well as Super Junior's Shindong. The program aired from February 9 to June 15.

Kim was revealed to appear in KBS' latest sitcom A Bit of Love with four others, including MBLAQ's G.O, KARA's Seungyeon, SECRET's Ji Eun, and SECRET's Ji Eun. According to officials, they'll be available as the younger versions of the five main characters for about three weeks. Kim was the younger version of Lee Hoon.

Kim participated in The Genius: Rules of the Game, tvN's latest reality show, in April 2013.

In addition, Kim was also featured in KBS2's latest variety show "The Sea I Wanted," which told the tale of six men's travel and experience in the open sea. Kim Jong-wan produced his second EP, 27 on May 11, which was released by Nell's Kim Jong-wan. He was promoted to double lead singles "The Answer" and "Kontrol" for which the music video was released on May 11. The album has been selling over 72,000 copies in the United States as of June 2015.

Kim and L performed the theme song for Gwangbok's 70th Anniversary on May 15, 2015, alongside Exo, Girl's Day, Sistar, Niel, and Ailee.

He and bandmate Dongwoo were both cast in the musical In The Heights (cast as the male lead 'Usnavi'). Kim played 'Benny' with EXO's Chen and actor Seo Kyung-soo, as well as actor Seo Kyung-soo. SM C&C, a SM Entertainment affiliate, produced the musical, which ran from September 4 to November 22 at 'Blue Square', a SM Entertainment company.

Kim was announced on September 17, 2015, alongside comedian Kim Sook and actor Park Jaemin.

He hosted JTBC's variety show Girl Spirit with comedian Jo Se-ho in June 2016. On July 19, the program aired.

He was confirmed as an MC for Channel A's variety show Singderella in February 2017. Later, it was discovered that he sustained a rib fracture while filming the series, which ultimately resulted in Infinite's demise.

Kim served in the military on January 8, 2020, and after his discharge, he held a mini-fanmeeting.

Kim made his solo debut with his third EP, Inside Me, and its lead single "I'm Cold" on December 14, 2020.

Kim decided not to renew his deal and left Woollim Entertainment on March 6. However, he remains a member of Infinite. On March 29, he unveiled his first single album "Won't Forget You" and its lead single "Hush" after his departure.

After the termination of Kim's employment with his former company, he signed with DoubleH TNE, a division of NHN & MLD Entertainment, on June 14, 2021.

Kim unveiled his fourth solo concert "2022 Kim Sung Kyu Concert 'LV' (Light & Voice), which took place at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul on February 28, 2022. Kim announced a domestic tour on April 18, 2022, which included the previously mentioned Seoul concert and further concerts in Busan (June 4-5, 2022) and Dael (June 11-12,2022).

Kim released his fourth EP, Savior, on April 22, 2022, as well as its lead single of the same name.
