Kim Hyun-ah (born June 6, 1992), also known as the mononym Hyuna, is a South Korean singer-songwriter, rapper, and model.

In February 2007, she debuted as a member of the Wonder Girls group.

Hyuna started JYP Entertainment and joined the girl group 4Minute, under Cube Entertainment after leaving the ensemble immediately after.

4Minute debuted in June 2009 and went on to become one of the country's most popular girl groups. Hyuna began a solo career in 2010 in what she described as "performance-oriented music."

"Change" is her debut single on South Korea's Gaon Digital Chart, ranked second.

Hyuna's first extended play Bubble Pop! was released in 2011.

The title track has sold more than three million digital copies, and she became the first female K-pop solo artist to reach 100 million views on YouTube as a single music video.

In 2012, she appeared in a smashing duet parody "Gangnam Style" in Psy's worldwide success, and later announced her second extended play Melting, which resulted in the production of her first number one single "Ice Cream."

Following 4Minute's disbandment in mid-2016, she released A'wesome, her fifth extended play, which was aided by her first concert tour The Queen's Back. Hyuna has performed six extended plays since her debut on stage as a professional soloist and has performed with numerous artists under Cube Entertainment.

She formed the duo Trouble Maker in 2011 with former Beast member Hyunseung, which resulted in two number one hits, including "Trouble Maker."

She was a member of Triple H with Pentagon members Hui and E'Dawn in 2017. Hyuna resigned from Cube Entertainment after several internal problems and joined Psy's P-Nation the following year.

Personal life

Hyuna revealed on August 2, 2018 that she had been in a relationship with Pentagon member E'Dawn since May 2016. The couple announced their engagement on Instagram on February 3, 2022.

Hyuna wrote a letter on Instagram on November 28, 2019, where she spoke about her health. She revealed that she was diagnosed with depression and panic disorder in 2016. In addition, she admitted to having foggy vision, causing her to faint. She dismissed them as signs of her anxiety disorder. However, she did experience a vaping syncope after seeing a doctor, who then performed a brain wave test, which indicated a diagnosis of vaping syncope. Hyuna spoke out the following year about her struggles with MBC's Radio actor, where she said she is having trouble with vasovagal syncope.

Life and career

Hyuna was born in Seoul, South Korea, on June 6, 1992. "M" is the word she uses to describe her Hanja name. However, Hyuna's Chinese teacher told her that it sounded strange in Mandarin (pinyin: Xuàn W) and that she should use the letters "" (pinyin: Xuàn Y) as her name for Taiwan promotional activities, which she accepted, commenting that "" sounded adorable). She attended Choongam Middle School and Korea High School of Music and Arts. Hyuna graduated from Konkuk University in Contemporary Arts and was given special admission to the university.

She was first revealed as the head of the JYP Entertainment-owned Wonder Girls in 2006 as the group's top rapper. Hyuna appeared on the group's debut mini album The Wonder Begins in February 2007. MTV Wonder Girls co-hosted the event for two seasons and appeared on the group's television show MTV Wonder Girls. On August 2, 2018, photographs of Hyuna with Pentagon's E'Dawn were published. Cube Entertainment denied rumors that they were dating, but E'Dawn and E'Dawn appeared on Yeonhap News later that day, admitting to their relationship that began in May 2016, after they had to get to know each other better through their project group Triple H promotions.
