Career

Kim began her career as a child actress, debating in a Paris Baguette Commercial with her future co-star Jung Woo Sung and first appearing in the animal film Heart Is... in 2006 alongside Yoo Seung-ho. Thereafter, she appeared in Cherry Tomato, which depicts the poverty-stricken lives of an old man and his granddaughter. In the drama film Wedding Dress, where she played Song Yoon-ah's daughter, one of Kim's earlier roles was one of her best roles.

Kim appeared in The Queen's Classroom, a television drama that earned her a Best Young Actress Award at the 2013 MBC Drama Awards. Kim next appeared in Thread of Lies, a film version of Kim Ryeong's novel Elegant Lies about a willful girl searching the truth behind her sister's suicide. The Baeksang Arts Awards' Best New Actress award went to her for her role as a victim of bullying.

Kim appeared in a leading role in the Drama City television series Snowy Road in 2015. The two-part drama series is about the "comfort women" in Korea under Japanese rule during World War II, and it was later released as a film in theaters.

Kim appeared in the web drama Sweet Revenge in 2017, which received rave reviews and over 11 million views online. During the same year, she appeared in Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds. Kim received the Best Supporting Actress award at the Blue Dragon Awards, making it the second highest-grossing film in South Korea. Kim reprised her role in the film's sequel, Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days.

Kim starred in the drama film Youngju in 2018, portraying a lonely girl whose environment has compelled her to grow up too fast. She appeared in Good Taste's two-episode romance drama Drunk the year before.

Kim reunited with and appeared alongside Jung Woo-sung in Innocent Witness in 2019. She received praise for her portrayal of a girl with a developmental disorder. She appeared on the youth drama At Eighteen with Ong Seong-wu.

In 2022, Kim appeared in Hansan: Rising Dragon, Kim Han-min's second installment of his Yi Sun-sin trilogy, as Jeong Bo-reum, a spy who invades the enemy territory as a courtesan. She appeared in the Joseon Psychiatrist's historical-medical drama Poong last year.
