He is best known for his role as So Yi-jung in Boys Over Flowers.

Early life and education

Kim Sang-beom was born in Seoul, South Korea, on July 7, 1989. He studied film and theater at Chung-Ang University, majoring in Film and Theater.

Personal life

Kim's office revealed in February 2012 that he was suffering from degenerative arthritis as a result of his intense weight loss after training for his JTBC cable drama Padam Padam.

Kim is close friends with fellow comedians Lee Min-ho and Jung Il-woo.

Kim was dating his Goddess of Fire co-star Moon Geun-young on November 1, 2013. Media outlets announced on May 15, 2014 that they had broken up with their 7-month-long relationship. Both actors' agencies announced that they did break up not too long ago, but that they have continued to be good friends and support colleagues."

Kim is currently in a friendship with actress Oh Yeon-seo, according to the publication on March 29, 2018. However, they were reported to have split up after a few months of dating.

Career

Kim participated in the "Survival Star Audition" and was ranked 6th out of hundreds of competitors. However, because he was under the age of 20, he was unable to participate in the tournament. Kim was given many opportunities in television series "Survival Star Audition"; he appeared in multiple films. Kim appeared in High Kick! for his debut.

Kim first gained acclaim for his scene-stealing work in MBC's anniversary drama East of Eden, winning the Netizen Popularity Award at the Korea Drama Awards. He came to fame in 2009 after appearing as So Yi-jung in the hit drama Boys Over Flowers. He received even more accolade for his support for the melodrama Padam Padam (2011), a fantasy melodrama written by Noh Hee-kyung.

On June 20, 2012, Kim released his first studio album, Hometown. Kim Beom Japan Live 2012, his first solo concert at the Stellar Ball in Tokyo's Shinagawa Prince Hotel, was a hit at the Stellar Ball.

Kim reunited with Noh in the romance melodrama That Winter, The Wind Blows (2013). In Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon directed by Tsui Hark, one of the year's highest grossing Chinese films, he made his Chinese debut. He appeared in Kwon Ho-young's thriller Miracle Hands. He starred Moon Geun-young in his first historical drama Goddess of Fire the same year.

Kim appeared in his first Chinese television drama, V Love, also known as the Chinese version of Gossip Girls, in 2014. Kim appeared in two Chinese films; romantic comedy Lovers & Movies; and suspense film The Beloved.

In 2015, Kim made his small-screen return to TvN's crime drama Hidden Identity. He appeared in another crime drama Mrs. Cop 2 and received accolades for his portrayal of a villain.

Kim appeared in Detective K: The Living Dead, the third installment in the comedy-mystery Detective K film series, in 2018, marking his return to Korean cinemas after four years.

He enlisted in the military in April 2018 and was released in March 2020.

He appeared in the fantasy drama Tale of the Nine Tailed alongside Lee Dong-wook and Jo Bo-ah in 2020.

He appeared in the 2021s in a legal drama called Law School.

Kim appeared in Ghost Doctor in 2022, as a teammate of Rain. Kim joined the UNIVERSE communication network in July.
