Killer Karl Krupp Career

Professional wrestling career

He made his debut as a professional wrestler in 1957 as Dutch Momberg, but it was not particularly memorable. Mad Dog Momberg was a boy who lived in 1971. He finally hit the gimmick that would make him a celebrity in 1972, namely 'evil German 'killer Karl Krupp.'

By this time, the German heel gimmick had been around for about a decade, first recognized by Hans Schmidt and then extended by later actors like Fritz von Erich. Killer Karl Krupp, a late entry into the sport, was one of the most over the top of them all. Krupp was the very image of a wildly cartoonish, yet scary wrestling villain, with eyes bulging, head shaved, and a short black beard framing a leering smile. He marketed for the role with monocle, riding crop, heavy black boots, and black ring cape, and gave ranting speeches in a stifled German accent with mangled pronunciations. Krupp goose-stepped to the ring, gave stiff-arm salutes, and made his final move with an Iron Claw hanger (the 'Eye Claw'). Momberg, who had occupied his homeland, was worried about the Nazis, so he did the over-the-top gimmick as a way of ridiculing them, Hogan's Heroes-style.

Krupp was a convincing brawler in the fight despite all the antics. He relished inflicting pain on them, regardless of whether or not he was disqualified in the process of doing so.

Krupp won his first of many assorted titles on June 10, 1972, defeating Leo Burke in the ESA's IW North American Heavyweight Championship. earliest this year, he went to Japan, where he had several of his early fames, co-hosting the NWA International Tag Team Championship twice between February and April 1973 (once with Johnny Valentine and once with fellow 'evil Germans' Fritz von Erich and replacement partner Karl von Steiger). He also reached the finals of the 1974 and 1975 New Japan Pro-Wrestling World League Tournaments, both of which he lost to Antonio Inoki. Krupp first appeared in the Texas territory in 1973 before heading to Portland, where he rivaled with Dutch Savage in 1974. He appeared in CWF Florida in 1975 and then went on to Dick the Bruiser's WWA in Indiana. He used the moniker Baron von Krupp here, as well as in Detroit.

Krupp moved to Memphis, where he joined Jimmy Hart's First Family of Wrestling stable and feuded with Jerry Lawler in 1980. He returned to Atlantic, Canada, where he had a memorable run in Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling, winning the European Championship and feuding with The Great Malumba and Hercules Cortez. He feuded with Angelo Mosca in southern Ontario in the mid-1980s, near the end of his career. By the end of March 1983, he was competing in the Dallas Texas-based territory for his former All Japan Pro Wrestling tag team, Fritz Von Erich's World Class Championship Wrestling.
