Kierra Valencia "Kiki" Sheard, born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1990, is an American gospel singer, fashion designer, and radio host.

She is the granddaughter of gospel choirleader Mattie Moss Clark's niece and the niece of gospel singer Karen Clark Sheard (member of gospel singing group The Clark Sisters).

In the 2010 Christian-drama film Preacher's Kid, Sheard portrayed Litha.

Sheard made her debut album I Owe You in 2004 after appearing on her mother's albums.

Her hit song "You Don't Know" was about her mother's battle with a nearly lethal blood clot.

Early life

Sheard, a Detroit, Michigan, native of West Bloomfield, Michigan, spent her formative years surrounded by the influences of her family, their faith, and their music. She began singing in the choir at Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church of God in Christ, pastored by her father, Bishop J. Drew Sheard.

Personal life

Sheard is a graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where she earned her bachelor's degree in English with a minor in psychology. Sheard's touring schedule has been reduced to accommodate her academic ambitions, but she and her mother Karen Clark-Sheard embarked on a Japanese tour in August 2006. Sheard began preaching at her father's church and others in 2013. She was officially recognised as a evangelist in the COGIC in 2017.

Music career

Sheard made her professional recording debut on her mother's debut solo album Finally Karen (1997) at the age of 9. The song "The Will Of God" received a Stellar Award for Best Children's Performance. Sheard performed as background vocalist for her mother, aunt Dorinda Clark-Cole, and the Clark Sisters in the ensuing years. Sheard was included on Clark-Cole's self-titled debut album in 2002. She appeared on "You Loved Me" (a gospel cover of Jill Scott's "He Loves Me (Lyzel In E Flat)) in 2003) and with J Moss on "Don't Change" (a gospel cover of Jill Scott's "Don't Change) ("Doing The Glory.) EMI Gospel won a bidding war against several record companies in order to sign Sheard that same year.

On September 7, 2004, she debuting I Owe You was released. Rodney Jerkins, Warryn Campbell, Erica, and Tina Campbell of Mary Mary, Sheard's cousin J Moss, and Tonéx were among the 11-track set. The album served as her brother J Drew's debut on the project. Sheard made history by debuting at number one on the Top Gospel Albums chart with his debut with I Owe You.

On August 2, 2005, EMI sponsored Just Until..., a series of remixes. "Just Until The Next Record" was the stopgap's title, which was abbreviated from its working title. Bold Right Life, Sheard's third album, came out in October 2008. The album, which was named after Sheard's youth group in Detroit, was billed as a "powerful blend of R&B/hip-hop, pop, rock, and traditional gospel" that'shifts from a brisk jump to pop ("My Boyfriend") to pop ("Invisible") to a more'sophistic ("Praise Him Now"), then to pop ("Invisible") and traditional ("Praise Him Now" after a 'th "Praise Him Now" and "Won't Hold Back" were two of the album's two lead singles. On the US Hot Gospel Songs chart, "Praise Him Now" debuted at number 7 on the US Hot Gospel Songs chart, whilst "Love Like Crazy" became Sheard's second Japanese hit, peaking at number 7 on the Japan Hot 100, peaking at number 7 on the Japan Hot 100.

At the BMI Trailblazers Luncheon in January 2009, Sheard performed "Jesus Is a Love Song" in honor of her aunt Elbernita "Twinkie" Clark.

On September 22, 2009, Sheard's Mixtape, a compilation, was released. Two new songs were released, "Sing to the Lord" co-written by Kierra, as "a high-octane blend of rock, CCR, and power pop" with Marcus Cole, as a 'bold and bracing' cover of Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas" with Marcus Cole.

Sheard appeared in the film Preacher's Kid (starring platinum-selling R&B musician LeToya Luckett, Durrell Babbs, Gregory Alan Williams, and Sharif Atkins), which was released in theaters around the country on January 29, 2010.

Free, Sheard's fourth album, was released on October 18, 2011. Karew Records, her family's gospel store, was her first album on her family's gospel label, Kuh-Rue.
