Kevin Michael McHale (born June 14, 1988) is an American actor, singer, dancer, and radio presenter.

McHale, a former member of the boy band NLT, is best known for his role as Artie Abrams in Fox's comedy-drama film Glee.

He appeared on E4 from 2014 to 2016.

McHale is currently one of four hosts of Sick of My Own Voice on Dash Radio.

Early life

McHale was born in Plano, Texas, to Christopher McHale and Elizabeth Payne, the youngest of four children. His older sister is a talent agent, and he got his start in acting by bribing her to allow him to audition for a local business. Demi Lovato, an actor and singer, grew up with him. As a child, he and his parents moved to California in order to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. McHale attended Academy of the Canyons High School in the Santa Clarita Valley, California.

Personal life

McHale and his dog Sophie appeared in a PETA ad campaign in September 2012, promoting the adoption of shelter animals. In June 2016, the Human Rights Campaign released a video in honor of the victims of the 2016 gay nightclub shooting in Orlando, which killed McHale and other celebrities and told the tales of the people killed there. He co-created the mobile app +ONE in September 2016, with the intention of "provide people with one app to simplify the process of creating events."

McHale lives in the Hollywood Hills. He is a Los Angeles Dodgers fan.

McHale was first identified as gay on a tweet in April 2018. He is in a relationship with actor Austin P. McKenzie. McHale and McKenzie appeared on When We Rise and have been in a relationship since 2016.

McHale, a four-member boy band, began as one of two leading singers before becoming an actor. They were discovered by Chris Stokes in 2006, who later referred them to his company, The Ultimate Group. They released "That Girl," their first single, on March 13, 2007. They opened (with Chantelle Paige) for The Pussycat Dolls the following month. The band made a guest appearance in the film Bratz: The Movie as an auditioning group. McHale, along with Timbaland and his bandmates, co-wrote the song "She Said, We Let Go" when she was in the company. NLT member Travis Michael Garland declared divorce on April 30, 2009.

McHale, a Universal Music Group artist, produces original music in his spare time. In an interview with Mario Lopez, McHale said that he wants to pursue solo music post-Glee. McHale, Chris Moy, and Justin Thorne co-wrote the song "Heartless" in 2015, which was released on the latter's debut EP The Heartbreaker. He appeared in Thorne's "Summer Nights" music video the same year. McHale released "Help Me Now," directed by Justin Thorne. McHale and actor Nolan Gould appear in the accompanying music video. In the episode "Wheels," he sang "Dancing with Myself" for his first solo appearance on the program. In the episode "Dream On," he danced in a fantasy sequence to "The Safety Dance" and sang "Dream a Little Dream of Me." He sang solo (in a dream sequence) of "Stronger" in the second season, after being anaesthetized for dental surgery. In the third season of "Michael," Harry Shum, Jr. performed in a dream sequence with Michael Jackson's song "Scream." McHale appeared in One Call's music video "Blacklight" for a brief period of time in 2010. He was a founding member of One Call and Matt Thorne. McHale appeared in Katy Perry's music video for her song "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) in June 2011. Everett McDonald plays the title. The production was supposed to run at Two River Theater in Red Bank, New Jersey, from June 4–26, 2022, but it was eventually cancelled.

Amber Riley, a McHale and Glee co-star, hosted a radio show named McRiley, beginning in 2014. In 2015, McHale began to host Sick of My Own Voice, one of the four hosts of Sick of My Own Voice on Dash Radio.
