He is best known for his roles as Nate Moretta in the crime drama Southland, Forklift Mike in Parenthood, Jeszquez in the superhero film Arrow's supernatural thriller True Blood, Sebastian Blood/ Brother Blood, and as Daniel Espinoza in Lucifer's comedy-crime drama Lucifer.

Career

Alejandro was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Mexican parents of Spanish and English ancestry. He appeared on ABC's Ugly Betty, as Santos, Justin Suarez's father, and Hilda's love interest. He had just became a series regular on Fox's newly launched Drive at the time of the season 1 finale episode's filming, when cancelled. He appeared in the second season of Showtime's original series Sleeper Cell, starring Benito Velasquez, and he appeared in The Young and the Restless.

In 2006, Jamie Jones appeared as Richard Jones in "Driven" on NCIS. In HBO's Big Love, he appeared alongside fellow Ugly Betty actor Eric Mabius in the CSI: Miami episode "One of Our Own" and another as a gay hustler. Malvock, a cunning demon, appeared on an episode of Charmed season 7 as Malvock, a cunning demon. He appeared in the first few episodes of 24's fourth season as a terrorist henchman, as he co-star Tony Plana, a fellow Ugly Betty actor. Alejandro appeared on the now defunct Shark as Deputy District Attorney Danny Reyes. I played a small part in The Cleaner, an A&E television series.

Alejandro appeared in the film Crossing Over, which was released in February 2009 alongside Harrison Ford. In Southland, he starred in Detective Nate Moretta, and Emmy Award winner John Wells produced Detective Nate Moretta. Just two weeks before the show's debut, NBC Broadcasting had pulled Southland out, but TNT had a pick up. Alejandro appeared in the television series The Mentalist Season 2, Episode 17 as Victor Bandino.

He appeared in Weeds, seasons 4 and 5. Alejandro appears in Dead Diva's Season 1 Episode 5 as the wrongfully convicted Michael Fernandez. He appeared on Sons of Anarchy as one of the Mayan MC members, son of Marcus, the MC's president. Jes' Velázquez plays Alejandro in the third and fourth seasons of the vampire drama True Blood.

He appeared in the film Red State, opposite John Goodman and directed by Kevin Smith, as well as a horror film Cassadaga in 2011. In the 2013 television series Golden Boy, Tony Arroyo, a murder detective, appeared alongside him. In the ABC/A&E series The Returned, Alejandro played Sheriff Tommy Solano.

Alejandro appeared on Arrow as Sebastian Blood/Brother Blood in 2013, a series that resurfaced throughout the show's second season. In January 2016, he began his role on Fox TV series Lucifer as LAPD Homicide Detective Dan Espinoza. Lucifer appeared on three seasons before being dropped by Fox, only to be picked up by Netflix in the new year. Alejandro produced the episode "Once Upon a Time" which was supposed to air in the series's fourth season but it was instead broadcast as a bonus episode on May 28, 2018 after the third season had ended. In an interview with Tell-Tale TV, he also produced the season 5 episode "Spoiler Alert," and he revealed that he produced the season 6 premiere.
