Early life

He was born in Stourbridge, Worcestershire, and was educated at Grange Comprehensive School and King Edward VI College, Stourbridge. He left a place to study the clarinet and saxophone at the Royal School of Music. He began working at Pebble Mill, Birmingham, in 1983, aged 18. His first BBC role was as a trainee studio manager on television, television, and film projects, including Howards' Way, Pebble Mill at One, and The Archers, where he spent three months doing spot Fx and once played Aunt Laura's dead body wrapped in 14 inch recording tape.

Personal life

Imogen Edwards-Jones, a writer and illustrator, is married to him. They have two children, Allegra and Rafe. Edwards-Jones' intricate description of Allegra was first published in a recurring Daily Telegraph column that was later turned into a book called The Stork Club.

More than three decades after the final show aired, UK viewers look set to get their own version of the incredibly popular comedy series, which ran for 275 episodes on NBC in America. Kenton Allen (right), chief executive of British production company Big Talk Studios, which made Rev for BBC2, said the company had signed up Men Behaving Badly writer Simon Nye (left) to take part in the project. The move is somewhat unusual as its less common for British broadcasters to take hit US shows and remake them for a domestic audience.
