Ken Jenkins (born August 28, 1940) is an American actor and singer best known for his role as Dr.

Chief of Medicine on the American comedy series Scrubs, Bob Kelso (2001-2009; main).

Jenkins has appeared in several well-known TV shows.

Career

Jenkins joined Actors Theatre of Louisville under Jon Jory's leadership in 1969, where he served as a company member for three years.

Jenkins appeared on episodes of Homefront, The X-Files, Babylon 5, Wiseley, Wisel, Beverly Hills, 90210, and as a main cast member and guest actor in Scrubs' first eight seasons. Dr. Bob Kelso, his character, is his most recognisable role to date.

Jenkins has appeared in several films throughout his career, including The Wizard of Loneliness, Executive Decision, The Abyss, Air America, The Last Man Standing, Fled, Gone in 60 Seconds, The Sum of All Fears, Matewan, Courage Under Fire, and the 1998 remake of Psycho. In Stephen King's television miniseries The Stand, he appeared as Fran Goldsmith's father. Jenkins has also worked with Clockstoppers.

Jenkins appeared on Cougar Town as the father of Jules (played by Courteney Cox). Jenkins appears in The Blanks' music video as the owner of an L.A. bar as he appeared with The Blanks in Scrubs, most notably band member Sam Lloyd who appeared as regular Ted Buckland.

In the 2016 HBO television film All the Way, Jenkins portrayed Representative Howard W. Smith, a central and divisive opposition to President Lyndon B. Johnson's call for the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Jenkins was the voice of Blister on Harvey Beaks.

Jenkins can also play the acoustic guitar on the Scrubs' "My Tuscaloosa Heart" and "My Musical," as well as "You Don't Know How It Feels" in the Cougar Town episode "You Don't Know How It Feels."
