Fans of Grey's Anatomy said goodbye (for now) to Kelly McCleary's Maggie Pierce after nine seasons on Thursday night's two-hour episode of the hit ABC series. Maggie Pierce, Ellen Pompeo's half-sister and head of Sloan Grey's cardiothoracic surgery, has been a fan since Season 10. McCann revealed in mid-March that she was canceling the show, with her double-episode on Thursday announcing her last appearance as a series regular.

After playing Maggie Pierce, Meredith Grey's half-sister, on ABC's hit show Grey's Anatomy for nine seasons, Kelly McCreary revealed she is putting down her scrubs. On Friday, the 41-year-old actress revealed the news to her 2.1 million Instagram followers as she reflected on some of her character's most memorable scenes. '9 seasons, 200 episodes, scores of heroic surgeries, scores of unforgettable patients, hundreds of delightful sister house scenes, 1 episode with my real-life sister, some sorrow, and some sadness,' she captioned a screenshot from the popular medical drama. Pierce, who is in charge of cardiothoracic surgery at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, recalled 'a few ghostly visits from' her late mothers, a 'bunch of alcoholism, and a 'handful of boyfriends.' During the years, the mother-of-one was also concerned about filming multiple uncomfortable dinner parties, taking and throwing a punch, and learning a slew of'medical jargon.'
