With more people switching to Netflix to watch their favorite shows every day, it has been recognized as the country's top streaming service. People have become hooked on several of Netflix's original shows as the streaming service continues to dominate television with over 247 million subscribers from around the world. Stats Panda analyzed Google Trends to find the most popular TV shows on YouTube in each state. The hit series The Diplomat debuted at number one, with over 15 states naming it their top pick, while the show The Night Agent followed close behind.

SPOILERS AHEAD: WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD. The show, which premiered on October 21, is about an American student named Amy who falls in love with Lino, an Italian chef, while studying abroad. When Lino decides to move to America to be with his new girlfriend, their chemistry is put into question again when his parents inform that they don't approve of the affair. People were swept up in Lino and Amy's adorable love story, but many people were left 'weeping' and'sobbing' at the end.' The series is actually based on a true tale; it was inspired by Tembi Locke's memoirs From Scratch: A Memoir of Passion, Sicily, and Finding Home. Tembi said the series was so accurate in her depiction of her and Saro's romance that she couldn't watch it because it would taint her memories. She explained that writing the book helped her re-fall in love with her late husband, but that it also brought back the 'tremendous grief' she suffered after his death.
