Keith Chegwin Career

Career

Chegwin began to act in the mid 1970s and then moved to television, presenting programs such as Multi-Coloured Swap Shop (1976–82), Cheggers Plays Pop (1978–86) and, later, Saturday Superstore. Brown Sauce's owner, Noel Edmonds and Maggie Philbin, and Swap Shop co-presenter Noel Edmonds and Maggie Philbin released the pop single "I Want to Be a Winner" in January 1982 and a follow-up single as the Saucers' "Spring Has Sprung." He appeared on outside broadcasts; on Swap Shop they were called Swaparama; on Swap Shop they were seen as Swaparama, where he assisted children in swapping their toys. Chegwin had a similar role on Superstore.

Chegwin was known for his off-the-cuff ad-lib style of broadcasting. No one had ever written a word for him, according to him. Chegwin's career waned in the late 1980s and 1990s due to his alcoholism, as detailed in his semi autobiographical book Shaken But Not Stirred. He appeared on Sky Star Search, a live nightly Sky talent show in 1990. Since appearing on the Richard and Judy show This Morning on November 5, 1992, Chegwin stopped drinking. Chegwin's career picked up speed in 1993 when he launched the "Down Your Doorstep" outside of the Big Breakfast broadcast segment. He hosted the show and later went on to host a resurgent version of the 1970s gameshow It's a Knockout on Channel 5. He also toured the country with Graham Fisher's International Knockout for corporate and charity functions.

Chegwin hosted his own internet television show in 2000, where his daily viewers for the seven-week trial attracted over 250,000. Chegwin hosted Naked Jungle, a Yorkshire-made nudist gameshow, naked except for a hat. He described the show as his "worst career move" in his life.

Chegwin was a GMTV presenter for seven years. He appeared in an episode of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's comedy series Extras in 2006. On BBC Radio 1, Chegwin used to write jingles for the Chris Moyles Breakfast Show. He operated Cheggersbingo, a web based bingo site, for seven years.

In 2007, Chegwin participated and appeared in Cheggers Party Quiz, in which a CGI version of himself appears as a quiz master. Oxygen Interactive created the game and it was available on Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 2, and PC. Mixed reviews were given to the game.

Chegwin appeared in the comedy horror film Kill Keith in November 2011. He appeared in Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's comedy film Life's Too Short with Shaun Williamson and Les Dennis. In August 2012, he was given the National Reality TV Awards for his lifetime achievement.

Chegwin had intended to participate in the seventh series of Dancing on Ice, but he was forced to stop early on the first day of training with Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean. Chegwin appeared in Dancing on Ice's eighth season alongside Olga Sharutenko. On February 17, 2013, Chegwin was fired. He appeared in 'Nutcracker On Ice' with Imperial Ice Stars from Russia at the London Palladium from October 2013 to January 2014.

He appeared on The Chase's celebrity episode on October 19, 2013 on October 19th. On BBC1's Pointless Celebrities show, he was a contestant in September 2014.

He appeared on Channel 5 in 2015 during his fifteenth series of Celebrity Big Brother. He came in fourth place on Sunday, despite being in fourth place on February 6th. He appeared in the 2015 edition of Celebrity MasterChef, which was won by Kimberly Wyatt of the Pussycat Dolls. He made a cameo appearance as himself in BBC Two's comedy-drama A Gert Lush Christmas, where he is revealed to be Tony's friend (Greg Davies). He has also hosted the 2015 BAFTA television and film industry awards.

Chegwin, a popular pantomime dame, appeared in the Easter pantomime tour of Beauty and the Beast in later years.

According to JEFF PRESTRIDGE, consumers are being dealt with a poor hand on annoying card 'holds.'

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 25, 2023
It is when a company temporarily blocks a set amount of your card's outstanding credit limit in order to ensure you have the funds to pay for products you have yet to receive. It's a way for it to demonstrate that you have earned enough credit when it comes time to pay up, whether for refuelling the vehicle or checking out of a hotel, or settling for the midnight raids on the mini-bar. It's a device that is supposed to shield businesses from scammers and chancers, but it's also used to check that motorists have the financial means to pay before they start pouring fuel in their tanks. Nevertheless, credit card use has not been widely accepted.

Surprise, surprise. a zoob.. .. William is a natural, and he's a natural: CHRISTOPHER STEVENS focuses on last night's television

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 20, 2023
CHRISTOPHER STEVENS: The Prince of Wales was greeted at his door by a nifty rat-a-tat at his house, and Alford Gardner, 97, was unconcerned to discover him standing there. 'Good morning, William,' William hailed him.' 'Special delivery' This royal prank was not without risks. Alford, 97, is one of the few surviving passengers from the voyage of the Windrush in 1948, carrying Caribbean workers to Britain. If the shock of opening the front door to the new king caused him to keel over, it would have been uncomfortable.
