She began her career as a supporting actress in films like The Quiet (2006), Four Christmases (2008), and State of Play (2009) before landing in the HBO comedy series Eastbound & Down (2009–2013). Mixon appeared on CBS sitcom Mike & Molly from 2010 to 2016.
She appeared in films Like Shelter (2011), Drive Angry (2011), and Hell or High Water (2016), and she did a lot of work in Minions (2015).

Early life
Mixon was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida; she is one of seven siblings. She attended the Pensacola Private School of Liberal Arts in Birmingham, Alabama, and graduated from the Pensacola Private School of Liberal Arts. She obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama.

Career
Mixon's first acting appearance came in 2001, when she appeared in Calpurnia in Shakespeare's interpretation of Julius Caesar at the Utah Shakespearean Festival. In 2003, Mixon moved to Los Angeles. She appeared in the premiere of the interactive theater play American Standard at the Los Angeles Edgefest in 2005. Mixon has appeared at Upright Cabaret.
In Elisha Cuthbert's 2005 thriller film The Quiet, Mixon made her motion picture debut, portraying the role Michelle Fell. She appeared in the romantic comedy Blind Dating as a secondary protagonist next year. Mixon was a central protagonist of Jon Favreau's younger wife in the 2008 comedy film Four Christmases. She appeared in three films in 2009, including crime drama The Informers, political thriller State of Play, and a Razzie-winning comedy All About Steve.
