Katy Ashworth (born 2 August 1986) is a British actress, television presenter, and singer best known for presenting children's television shows.
Life
Ashworth was born in Frimley, Surrey, on August 2, 1986, and grew up in Yateley, Hampshire. In 2009, she graduated from the University of Exeter in Drama for the first time.
Career
On the BBC's children's channel, Ashworth began her television career as the cooky programme for children under the age of 6. Since 2011, she has been one of the CBeebies' regular continuity presenters, and she has appeared on a daily basis as one of the CBeebies "house."
She has appeared on other CBeebies, including Justin's House, as well as appearing in various station promos. In four of the CBeebies Christmas Pantomimes, Aladdin, the palace cook in Strictly Cinderella, as the Giant's Cook in Jack and the Beanstalk, and Mrs. Darling, Pan, was the first ever CBeebies Prom at the Royal Albert Hall in July 2014.
She has appeared in many live stage shows in addition to her television appearances. In 2011, Katy's Roadshow, a one-woman children's revue, toured the United Kingdom, with her one-woman children's show Katy's Roadshow. She appeared in forty venues over six months. She has appeared at several festivals and events around the world, including Glastonbury, LolliBop, the South African Good Food and Wine Show, and three CBeebies Live tours around the UK, as well as the one on April 2014, The BIG Band Easter Tour.
Ashworth has performed Peter Pan in end-of-year pantomimes around England, and in December 2014, she appeared as the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, at the Anvil Theatre in Basingstoke. In Jack and the Beanstalk, Ashworth appeared in Jack and the Beanstalk. In December 2015, he appeared in the Theatre Royal in Bath as the Forest Fairy.
Ashworth resigned from her CBeebies role in the beginning of 2016, and her last studio recording session took place on Friday, 1 April 2016.
