Katja Glieson was born in Melbourne, Australia, as a child of German immigrants. She made a "difficult decision" to move away from family and friends to pursue a career in music; she worked three jobs and saved every penny to move to Los Angeles in order to fulfill her dreams. As growing up, Glieson discussed experiencing fear and bullying, which was made all the more difficult because he was an overweight little girl. She was ridicule and bullying in elementary school, and then she moved to music. Singing gave her a healthy outlet.
