Katie Lorna Thistleton (born 13 May 1989) is an English television and radio presenter, NCTJ qualified journalist and writer best known for her work on the CBBC channel.

Cel Spellman, her co-presenter, appears on BBC Radio 1 with her co-presenter Cel Spellman.

Early life

Thistleton, a young girl from Manchester, attended Droylsden High School for Girls. Thistleton earned a degree in English and Creative Writing, as well as fellow actress Lauren Layfield, before qualifying as a NCTJ accredited journalist after studying at News Associates, Manchester.

Thistleton served with the NHS Pennine Care mental health charity for a time.

Career

Thistleton is best known for her work presenting in CBBC HQ, hosting the live 'bits in between the shows'. She has done this since she was headhunted for the job in 2013 whilst working behind the scenes for CBBC as a PA and Researcher. And she appeared in Swashbuckle from (series 1 to series 3) the pirate game show Swashbuckle was on CBBC and BBC Two at 7:00 am to 7:25 am and again at 1:00 pm to 1:25 pm before it moved to CBeebies from (2014 onwards)

She hosts the CBBC Book Club on the CBBC channel. The Book Club role has seen Thistleton interviewing many leading authors, including David Baddiel, Debbie McGee, Cressida Cowell, Jeff Kinney, Michael Rosen, Holly Smale, and Jacqueline Wilson.

Thistleton has also appeared on a variety of CBBC shows, including All Over the Place, Blue Peter, Jedward's Big Adventure, The Dog Ate My Homework, and Sam & Mark's Big Friday Wind-Up. In March 2019, Katie Thistleton announced she would be leaving CBBC to focus on new projects. Her last day was on 29 March. It is unknown which presenter will take her place

Away from children's television, Thistleton has also appeared on Celebrity Eggheads, Celebrity Mastermind, and Children in Need.

After replacing host Jordan North, Jamie Laing made his long-awaited debut as the host of BBC Radio 1's Drivetime Show on Monday. On the afternoon program, Made in Chelsea's Vick Hope and Katie Thistleton joined Vick Hope and Katie Thistleton, with BBC releasing a fun behind-the-scenes clip of his opening show. After taking a short break to appear on Countdown, Vick was thrilled to film her first pre-show link alongside Katie and Jamie, shouting that it was 'all change' on the show.

After Jordan North was barred from his slot with Vick following months of behind-the-scenes chaos, Radio 1 has seen a massive change in its hosts. It has since been revealed that Jordan will be replacing Roman Kemp on Capital Breakfast, with Made in Chelsea's Jamie Laing taking his place on Radio 1's Going Home. Katie will now be joined by Vick and Jamie for the drivetime show, which takes place between 3.30 p.m. and 6 p.m. as listeners commute home from work.
