Early life

Kathryn Elizabeth Morgan was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on August 17, 1988. She was adopted. Morgan discovered she was of one hundred percent European descent with mainly British, Irish, French, German, and Scandinavian ancestry after completing a 23andme genetic test. Her adoptive father, an endodontic dentist serving in the Air Force, and the family and their families then moved to Minot Air Force Base in Minot, North Dakota. When she was two years old, she began studying ballet, tap, and jazz dance. She went from North Dakota to Mobile, Alabama, and then enrolled in the Mobile Ballet, deciding to concentrate exclusively on ballet instruction. Morgan and her family moved to New York City when she was nine years old, inspired her to attend George Balanchine's The Nutcracker, a ballet company that inspired her to pursue dance with the company. When she was ten years old, she was given a scholarship to attend Joffrey Ballet School in New York City for four weeks. Morgan was accepted into the Mobile Ballet company at the age of 11, where she appeared in full length ballets including Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and The Nutcracker, the latter of which she appeared as Clara at age thirteen and Arabian and Snow Queen at age fifteen. She attended the School of American Ballet in New York City in 2004 and enrolled as a full-time student in the fall. Morgan's mother rented an apartment in New York City and stayed with her, while her father commuted up to New York from Alabama every other weekend.

Morgan revealed on Instagram on September 3, 2018 that she and Young were no longer married. She revealed on YouTube later this month that her divorce had been finalized.

Morgan denied the sexual harassment charges against Peter Martins in December 2017, claiming that she had never been a perpetrator of harassment by Martins and was treated respectfully while at New York City Ballet but had heard rumors that Martins were having sexual relations with dancers in the company.

Morgan began performing in Salt Lake City with her then-boyfriend Christopher Sellars, a former first soloist with Ballet West, after leaving Miami City Ballet in 2020.

Morgan became engaged to Sellars on July 29, 2021, after 2 years of dating. He invited her to Disneyland.
