Red was maid of honor when her musical collaborator and friend Big Freedia married in 2017.
Career
DJ Jubilee made Red rapping at a block party in New Orleans in 1998 and he signed her to Take Fo' Records. "Melpomene Block Party" was her first album, released in 1999.
Red, the first openly gay bouncer, created a distinctive style of bounce, which is often referred to as a sissy bounce. Her style is high-energy, with many calling and responding often used.
