Breton tops have consistently featured in the Princess of Wales's wardrobe since she joined the Royal Family. Characterised by their horizontal stripes and iconic boatneck, this classic design was originally introduced as an official French naval uniform in 1858 and has evolved over the years. Kate Middleton has built a diverse collection of these tops, embracing traditional colours, such as white, blue and black, in wool, cotton and cashmere. For her video message congratulating Team GB for their efforts at the Paris Olympics last month, Kate wore her favoured £139 Ralph Lauren Breton - the fourth time she has showed it off in public. www.dailymail.co.uk, October 2, 2024
The Princess of Wales hugged a young fellow cancer sufferer after she was invited to Windsor Castle to take pictures by Prince William. In a moving encounter keen photographer Liz Hatton, 16, who is battling a rare and aggressive tumour, was asked by the future king to join him at an investiture he was holding to capture participants including Mark Cavendish , Waynes Barnes and Alistair McCoist. Liz, from Harrogate in Yorkshire, is trying to take part in as many photography experiences as possible and received the personal invitation from William after he found out about her through the London Air Ambulance Charity of which he is patron. While that experience would have been special enough, Liz was also invited along with her family to meet with William and Kate privately to hear about her day and cancer journey.
