Kat Dahlia Life

Katriana Sandra Huguet (born July 29, 1990), better known by her stage name Kat Dahlia (formerly Kat Hue), is a Cuban-American recording artist from Miami, Florida.

Dahlia, a singer, songwriter, and rapper, is best known for her "razor sharp" lyrics and her "unique, aggressive flow."

"Gangsta" became her debut single in March 2013, gaining rave reviews.

Dahlia unveiled her debut studio album My Garden in January 2015, with Vested in Culture and Epic Records, the former of which she signed a recording deal in 2012.

Dahlia debuted on Billboard's "Next Big Sound" in 2013.

Early life

Kat Dahlia was born in Miami Beach, Florida, on July 29, 1990, to a Cuban mother and her Lebanese-Cuban father. She started rapping at the age of eight and writing songs at the age of 15, ripping instrumentals from YouTube in place of a band. Dahlia decided to leave Miami and immediately moved to New York City a month later at the age of 18. Dahlia's relationship began shortly as "toxic," which she would later refer to as a source of inspiration and "writer's gold." Kat Dahlia became her stage name after her manager suggested it and kept it, but it also has a dark undertone to it.

Kat Dahlia Career

Musical career

Dahlia was discovered by Vested in Culture VP Amanda Berkowitz after self-financing an extended play (EP) and a music video. Sylvia Rhone, a veteran record executive, drew immediate attention to Dahlia. Rhone signed Dahlia to her newly launched label, Vested in Culture (VIC), a joint venture with Epic Records, in 2012, describing her as "more than just a pop artist." Dahlia's debut album was scheduled to debut in 2014, making it the first release of VIC.

Dahlia's first single and video for VIC was "Gangsta," which MTV described as "packed to the brim with ferocious rapping" on MTV. The film, shot in Miami, reflects the challenges of her early days. Samantha Lecca produced the video and premiered on Vevo on March 5, 2013. Dahlia was also selected as a BET "Music Matters" artist in March. "Gangsta" was featured in the background of the 2014 Premiership of Law & Order's Season 16: Special Victims Unit, Girls Disappeared.

On March 5, 2013, Dahlia digitally released three songs, "Gangsta," "Money Party," and "Mirror." On December 17, 2013, she released her album "Crazy" for free on her website. My Garden was launched on January 15, 2015. The album debuted at number 54 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Music critics generally agree that My Garden got rave reviews. The album received an average score of 63, which shows "generally positive reviews" based on four studies at Metacritic, which assigns a score out of 100 to critiques from critics.

"Run It Up," "Voices in My Head," and "Lion" are Kat Dahlia's third EP, "20s, 50s, 100s," on SoundCloud on May 9, 2016.

Dahlia released "Friday Night Majic," which was supposed to be the lead single from her forthcoming second studio album, Naked Lady and a White Horse, in May 2017. The album was planned to be released in July 2017, but it didn't happen. Dahlia released "Body and Soul" on all streaming platforms on July 21, 2017 and also posted a lyric video to her YouTube Vevo channel.

Salaam Remi released the EP South Beach Social Club, a joint venture with Dahlia on May 4, 2018, after constructing his For the Culture Playlist, which featured Miguel's single "Come Through and Chill."
