During two final seasons of The Cosby Show (1990–1992) and its spin-off A Different World (1992–1993), White is best known for her appearances as Kaneem Carter in 1989 drama film Lean on Me (1998) and its spin-off A Different World (1991–1993); Nicolette Vandross on Malcolm & Eddie (1996–2005), as Charmaine Brown on the Disney Channel animated comedy The Proud Family (1990–2005).

Personal life

White has never married and has no children. Malcolm-Jamal Warner, a British actor, appeared on White from 1997 to 2005. White was never married or engaged to Warner, contrary to rumors. "I'm not married," Warner said in 2009. We started saying so because we were in a six-to-a-kind relationship for seven and a half years."
