In the Diary of a Wimpy Kid film franchise, he portrayed Chirag Gupta, as well as Ravi Ross on the Disney Channel Original Series Jessie and its subsequent spin-off Bunk'd.

Early life

Karan Brar was born in Redmond, Washington, on January 18, 1999, to parents of Indian origins. He was born in Bothell, Washington, and he has one older sibling, Sabbata. Brar attended Cedar Wood Elementary School and studied acting at John Robert Powers and Patti Kalles workshops.

Personal life

Brar and his parents and older sister remained in Los Angeles until he and colleague Cameron Boyce and Sophie Reynolds immigrated in May 2019.

Career

Brar began acting at the age of 11, portraying Chirag Gupta, an Indian middle schooler, in the comedie feature film Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Brar was born and raised in the United States and spent time as a dialect coach to fine tune his Indian accent for the role.

In March 2011, Brar resurfaced in the feature film sequel Toy Town: Rodrick Rules, as Chirag Gupta. It was announced in October 2011 that he would reprise his role as Chirag for the third installment of the Wimpy Kid franchise, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days. He appeared in the Seeds of Compassion commercial campaign announcing the Dalai Lama's visit to Seattle in April 2010, as well as appearing in Shell Gasoline and Committee for Children.

In September 2011, Brar first appeared on the Disney Channel comedy show Jessie as 10-year-old Indian adoptee Ravi Ross. The role of Ravi was initially supposed to be a Hispanic boy named Javier from South America, but casting directors were impressed with him during the audition process and eventually decided to reprise the role for him.

A new Disney Channel show Bunk'd, a spin-off of Jessie, was announced in February 2015 in which Brar will reprise his role as Ravi Ross. In the Disney Channel Original Movie Invisible Sister, he appeared as George George in the year of George. He was insignificant in the 2018 science fiction film Pacific Rim: Uprising.
