Kane Life

Glenn Thomas Jacobs (born April 26, 1967) is an American professional wrestler, author, businessman, and politician.

He is the Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, as a Republican.

Jacobs has been signed to WWE, where he is best known by his ring name Kane.

He began wrestling on the independent circuit in 1992, competing in organizations like Smoky Mountain Wrestling (SMW) and the United States Wrestling Association (USWA) before joining the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE).

Jacobs was repackaged as Kane, the younger half-brother of The Undertaker, with whom Jacobs would alternatively feud or team as The Brothers of Destruction. Kane became a central pillar of the WWF's "Attitude Era" of the late 1990s and early 2000s, defeating the era's "poster boy" Stone Cold Steve Austin for the WWF Championship in his first pay-per-view (PPV) main event at King of the Ring in June 1998.

Kane has been in more PPV cards through 2018 than in any other wrestler in WWF/WWE history) and a 12-time world champion (having competed in the World Tag Team Championship, WCW Championship, and WWE Tag Team Championships with various sponsors) as well as a three-time world champion (having attended the WWF Championship, ECW Championship, and World Heavyweight Championship) and a multi-time world champion).

In addition to being the third man to complete WWE's Grand Slam, he is also a two-time Intercontinental Champion and a Money in the Bank champion.

At 44, Kane has the most cumulative Royal Rumble match eliminations.

Kane's last title was the 24/7 Championship on September 16, 2019.

Ric Flair, a veteran wrestler, referred to Kane as "the best in the world" in a 2015 interview, including the lead role in the 2006 WWE Studios production See No Evil and its 2014 sequel.

He has long been a promoter of libertarian political causes.

Jacobs declared in March 2017 that he was running for the mayoral seat of Knox County, Tennessee, as a Republican.

On May 1, 2018, he won the Republican primary election for Knox County's mayoral seat, and on August 2, he went on to win the general election.

Early life

Jacobs was born in Torrejón de Ardoz, Spain, to a US Air Force family stationed in Spain at the time of his birth. He grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and attended high school in Bowling Green, Missouri, where he excelled in football and basketball. He obtained a degree in English literature at Northeast Missouri State University, where he competed in both basketball and football.

Personal life

Jacobs has been married to Crystal Maurisa Goins since August 23, 1995, and the two children, Arista and Devan, as well as two grandchildren, are together, as well as two grandchildren.

Jacobs also works as an insurance consultant, and he and his wife own an Allstate company in Knoxville, Tennessee, which is just south of wrestling. In a July 2015 interview with Realtor.com, the National Association of Realtors' website, Jacobs said that the couple's dedication to their insurance company prompted them to place their Jefferson City home up for auction. Both Jacobs and his wife became sick of the commute, and the house, which was built in 2005, was an hour away from the department.

Kane Career

Professional wrestling career

Jacobs debuted in 1992 under the ring name "Angus King," competing for the Hannibal, Missouri-based Central States Wrestling Association (which was owned and operated by his childhood friend Mark Morton). Jacobs starred in December 1992 as "the Christmas Creature," a "evil Christmas character" with a green mask, candy cane-striped sleeves, and tinsel. The Christmas Creature unsuccessfully challenged Jerry Lawler in the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship before heading to the United States later this month.

Jacobs lost to Sting on an episode of WCW Saturday Night in Macon, Georgia, under the ring name "Bruiser Mastino" in March 1993. Later this year, he moved to Tampa, Florida, to further his education. During his time in Florida, he competed for a few matches for the International Championship Wrestling Alliance as "Sid Powers." After leaving Florida, Jacobs returned to the United StatesWA as "Doomsday." Jacobs fought in a tough match for the World Wrestling Federation under his real name at a WWF Superstars taping in Burlington, Vermont, in October 1993. Jacobs debuted under his real name in Japan in December 1993 as Pro Wrestling Fujiwara Gumi.

Jacobs appeared on "Doomsday" in Central City, Kentucky, as well as a slew of more appearances with Pro Wrestling Fujiwara Gumi in Japan, beginning 1994 wrestling for the Central City, Kentucky-based Tri-State Wrestling Championship and the Indianapolis, Indiana-based Championship Wrestling From Indiana. Jacobs, a former immigrant 1, immigrated to Puerto Rico in May 1994 to compete for the World Wrestling Council as "Doomsday" where he clashed with Invader 1. Jacobs wrestled for the Catch Wrestling Association in Bremen, Germany, as "Spartacus," competing in the Catch Cup tournament.

Jacobs was hired by Jim Cornette in 1995 for his Morristown, Tennessee-based Smoky Mountain Wrestling (SMW) program, where he was labeled "Unabomb" (a reference to the Unabomber). He briefly worked with Eddie Gilbert before forming the "Dynamic Duo" with Al Snow and starting a rivalry with the Rock 'n' Roll Express and launching a rivalry. The Dynamic Duo defeated the Rock 'n' Roll Express in a coal miner's glove match for the SMW Tag Team Championship in April 1995 (Jacobs' first championship). They held the positions until 1995, when they lost to the Thugs in July. The Dynamic Duo and the Rock 'n' Roll Express feud erupted in a street brawl at Summer Blast 1995, with the Rock 'n' Roll Express victorious. Jacobs lost to World Wrestling Federation wrestler The Undertaker, who was on a special appearance with SMW in August 1995. Jacobs was on his last SMW appearance at the Fire on the Mountain 1995 event the following month, with the Thugs defeating the Dynamic Duo in a loser leaves town match.

At the World Wrestling Federation's (WWF)'s "Mike Unabomb" taping, Jacobs defeated Reno Riggins in a dark match on February 20, 1995 Raw taping. "Unabomb" was a wrestling term that was occasionally referred to by the end of August.

In a vignette on the June 26, 1995 episode of Raw, Jacobs made his first television appearance with the company as "Isaac Yankem, DDS," Jerry Lawler's private dentist. Yankem was portrayed as a hero with imposing height and weight, who Lawler had recruited him for the sole purpose of ridding the WWF of his long-serving adversary, Bret Hart. On August 15, when Jacobs lost by count-out to Hart, the character's in-ring debut occurred. Yankem was disqualified after he tied Hart by his neck into the top and middle ropes at that month's SummerSlam event. In the main event of the October 16 episode of Raw and later in a tag team match against Hart and Hakushi, in which he was partnered with Lawler on November 6, he lost to Hart in a steel cage match and then fell to Hart in a steel cage match. Jacobs was part of an unsuccessful team in an elimination match in November's Survivor Series and played in the 1996 Royal Rumble match in January. The remaining portion of Yankem's live broadcasting run through April featured losses to The Undertaker, Jake Roberts, Marc Mero, and The Ultimate Warrior. Jacobs was based on a number of live events in Kuwait in May and a September tour of South Africa, after which the Yankem gimmick was retired.

While attempting to portray Ross as a disgruntled employee in September 1996, play-by-play announcer Jim Ross introduced Jacobs as Diesel and Rick Bognar as Razor Ramon. In Your House 12: It's Time, The pair competed mainly as a tag team, losing a WWF Tag Team Championship match to championship holders Owen Hart and The British Bulldog at December's In Your House 12: It's Time. As Diesel, he lost via disqualification in the main event of the December 22 edition of Superstars and defeated Marc Mero on Shotgun Saturday Night on January 11, 1997. Ramon and Diesel were last seen on television at the 1997 Royal Rumble, where Jacobs was the third-to-last competitor. As Diesel, Jacobs continued to perform sporadic live events from April. Jacobs was briefly "Doomsday" in mid-1997 after winning the US Heavyweight Championship for a short time.

The WWF "slowly and meticulously" started preparing for Jacobs' debut of Kane, a horror-themed juggernaut and a terrifying personification of everything fire in April 1997. The character's name and appearance are rooted in malevolent acts of violence committed against his older half-brother, The Undertaker, that occurred during their youth. Kane's "Hellfire and Brimstone" gimmick was paired with a special match dubbed the "Inferno match."

In Your House 14: The Undertaker, the Undertaker's former manager, launched a fireball into the face of his former manager, Paul Bearer, who had previously had his protégé Mankind do the same to The Undertaker. Mankind reintroduced Bearer, who wanted to reunite with Undertaker because of his status as a WWF champion, on the May 12 edition of Raw. Following a long period of mutual hostility between the two groups, all of this was necessary. Bearer used the ultimatum of adamantly refusing to be his apprentice in order to coerce him to be his protégé. For a few months, the Undertaker acceded to Bearer's aspirations for a few months but then grew dissatisfied with the Bearer's abrasive leadership of him and dropped all contact with him. Kane, the Bearer's long-lost brother and the Undertaker's half-brother, was announced publicly that he was coming to the WWF to confront him. Bearer revealed that The Undertaker had started a fire at his family's funeral home, effectively murdering his family. Kane, the Undertaker, was both physically and mentally exhausted after the incident. Kane, a "pyromaniac," was the one who started the fire and may not have survived (however, in October 1998, Undertaker confessed to intentionally burning down the house in an attempt to murder Kane).

In the first Hell in a Cell match against Shawn Michaels, Jacobs made his re-debut as Kane at Badd Blood: In Your House on October 5, 1997, by using The Undertaker's signature "Tombstone Piledriver" to cost him the victory. Kane was caught by the fire and terrified by the fire—and to deny Jacobs' identity—the actor wore a mask, sported long hair, and wore red and black ring attire that nearly covered his entire body. Kane and The Undertaker feuded with one another over the following year, during which their history vis-à-vis one another was unearthed. At Survivor Series, Jacobs won his first match as Kane against Mankind. The Undertaker refused to face him initially, and adamantly so, after Kane humiliated him, The Undertaker later claimed that he had promised his parents that he would never do harm to his own "flesh and blood." Kane betrayed The Undertaker for a brief period of time by costing him the WWF Championship, while Kane interfered in The Undertaker's championship match against Shawn Michaels at the Royal Rumble. Kane locked Undertaker in a casket and set it on fire after the match. Undertaker recovered on an episode of RAW in which he was recreated from a coffin that was struck by lightning in this moment ferocious attacking Kane.

On March 29, the Undertaker stunned Kane at WrestleMania XIV. Kane and Paul Bearer assaulted The Undertaker after the match, smashing him with a steel chair and then giving him a Tombstone Piledriver. They fought until Unforgiven; in Your House on April 26, when The Undertaker defeated Kane in the first ever Inferno match. The Bearer attempted to help Kane by attacking Undertaker, but as Kane was pulling backstage, Vader brought Kane right into the ring, and The Undertaker assaulted him both by leaping over the ring ropes surrounded by fire before setting Kane's right arm on fire. Over the Edge: Kane defeated Vader in a Mask vs. Mask match.

Kane defeated The Undertaker on June 1st episode of Raw Is War to become the number one contender for the WWF Championship. Kane defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin in a First Blood match after Mankind and The Undertaker's interferences ended the WWF Championship. Kane lost the title back to Austin the following night in Raw Is War.

Kane later formed a tag team with Mankind, with whom he also won the WWF Tag Team Championship twice. Kane is allied with The Undertaker after losing the titles and turning against Mankind, with the duo known as The Brothers of Destruction. At Breakdown: Kane, The Undertaker, and Stone Cold Steve Austin competed in a triple threat match for Austin's WWF Championship; Kane and Undertaker were forbidden from pinning each other, so they pinned Austin together. At Judgment Day, the half-brothers battled one another for the vacant WWF Championship, with the match ending in a no contest as special guest referee Nathan counted a double pinfall and declared himself the champion; during the match, The Undertaker betrayed Kane for Paul Bearer. In Your House, Kane interfered in the Buried Alive match between Austin and The Undertaker, shaming Undertaker and costing him the match. As a result, Kane committed to an insane asylum. Kane joined The Corporation in December to stay out of the insane asylum. Kane allied himself with Chyna and feuded with Triple H at WrestleMania XV, after being threatened by Chyna and kicked out of The Company.

Kane formed a tag team with X-Pac and met Tori, a female spy. Kane went from being mute to aided speech by an electrolarynx to speaking unaided while on X-Pac, a change from being mute to aided speech by an electrolarynx. He also became affiliated with D-Generation X (DX), the faction of which X-Pac was a member. The DX's slogan, "suck it," was his first unaided word. Both of the pair have won the WWF Tag Team Championship twice. When X-Pac turned on Kane and reinstated DX, the tag team split apart. Kane and X-Pac then became embroiled in a long feud against each other, which culminated in Tori betraying Kane and deploying the X-Pac and DX, resulting in Kane briefly rejoining Paul Bearer. Kane began to terrorize DX at every chance he could, even compel the organization to send Rikishi after Kane stopped him. The feud between the former partners ended at WrestleMania 2000, where Kane defeated X-Pac and Road Dogg.

Kane appeared on Raw's May 29 episode when he helped The Undertaker and The Rock fight off the McMahon-Helmsley Faction. During the match, his participation in this feud culminated in a big event match against Vince and Shane McMahon, and then-champion Triple H. But soon after, the Undertaker and Kane's feud ended, and the pair's rivalry between the Undertaker and Kane resurfaced, but they restored their relationship shortly after. Kane later turned heel by assaulting The Undertaker, resulting in a match between the two teams at SummerSlam. The match came to an end when Kane's mask was removed, causing him to run away from the ring, revealing his exposed face. Kane remained in contention for the WWF Championship for the remainder of the year and ended in 2000 with a feud with Chris Jericho; Kane defeated him at Survivor Series and again at Rebellion, but he lost to Jericho in a Last Man Standing match at Armageddon.

After being knocked out by Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kane turned face on a new front by reimagining his relationship with The Undertaker right after the Royal Rumble in which he cut 11 wrestlers and was the runner-up. Kane competed for the Hardcore Championship in early 2001, defeating Raven for the title in a triple threat match that also featured Big Show, but later lost the title to Rhyno on an episode of SmackDown! Kane and The Undertaker began working as The Brothers of Destruction, and throughout the year they competed with Edge and Christian, Rikishi, and Haku's The Two-Man Power Trip. Kane defeated Triple H to win the Intercontinental Championship on Judgment Day. On an episode of SmackDown, Kane lost the title to Albert. Following infringement from Diamond Dallas Page, the following is a blog post. Kane and The Undertaker feuded with Page and Kanyon after Page began stalking Sara The Undertaker's wife Sara. The feud came to a conclusion at SummerSlam, where they defeated Page and Kanyon in a steel cage tournament, resulting in them winning both the WWF Tag Team and the WCW Tag Team Championships. Kane and The Undertaker were defeated at Unforgiven, and both were involved in the ten-man Winner-Takes-All match at Survivor Series as members of Team WWF's victorious Team WWF.

The WWF was divided into two brands, Raw and SmackDown, with Kane being imported to Raw on March 25, 2002. Kane soon feuded with the New World Order and began behaving like a human by talking through his mask and referring to his followers as "Kanenites." Kane returned to the WWE in August 2002, with a new look and half-mask. After defeating The United States on September 23 in Raw, Kane and The Hurricane also won the WWE Tag Team Championship (Lance Storm and Christian). Despite harassment from Triple H and Ric Flair, Kane captured the Intercontinental Championship from Chris Jericho the following week. Kane successfully defended the World Tag Team Championship in a four-team Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match on October 7 after the Hurricane had been battered by Triple H and Ric Flair earlier that evening and was unable to participate. The match was later announced as WWE's 2002 "Match of the Year" during the event. Kane and the Hurricane lost the World Tag Team Championship to Chris Jericho and Christian the following week on Raw.

Kane also began feuding with Triple H in October, resulting in a match at No Mercy on October 20 in which both Kane's Intercontinental Championship and the Triple H's World Heavyweight Championship were involved. Triple H revealed in the weeks leading up to the match that Kane had an unrequited friendship with a woman named Katie Vick several years ago. Kane said after Vick was killed in a car crash, he had sex with her. Triple H (dressed as Kane) simulating mock sex with a casket in a video; Kane's tag team partner The Hurricane later posted a video of Triple H (rather, someone sporting a Triple H series of masks) receiving an enema; Kane's tag team partner The Kane et alluded the act in question; Kane's tag team member The Hurricane later responded the following week by presenting a video footage of Kane Fans of the angle, and it was de-emphasised before the championship match. Triple H and Flair cheating unify the two titles. Kane defeated Kane at No Mercy due to Triple H and Flair cheating. Kane defeated Triple H in a non-title Casket match on October 28 to bring an end to their feud. Kane competed in the first-ever Elimination Chamber match for the World Heavyweight Championship, which was won by Shawn Michaels in Survivor Series.

Kane formed a tag team with Rob Van Dam, which ended up winning the World Tag Team Championship from Chief Morley and Lance Storm in a triple threat elimination match (also involving The Dudley Boyz) on Raw's March 31 episode. Triple H offered Kane a spot in his stable Evolution after losing their World Tag Team Championship to La Résistance in Bad Blood. Stone Cold Steve Austin, the Raw co-general manager, gave Kane the opportunity to face Triple H's in the World Heavyweight Championship if he turned down Triple H's bid; however, co-general manager Eric Bischoff said that if Kane lost the match, he would unmask him. Kane accepted Austin's invitation and challenged Triple H in Madison Square Garden the following week. Triple H won the game due to undermination by his teammates, and Kane's mask was removed from his face on the June 23, 2003 episode of Raw, Kane. Kane's mental instability was made by his unmasking, and Kane assaulted Ross and set him on fire during an interview with Jim Ross. Linda McMahon was later chastised on the Raw stage. Kane and Shane McMahon, Linda's son's, fought Kane in a Last Man Standing match at Unforgiven and an ambulance match at Survivor Series, sparking a feud between Kane and Shane McMahon. Kane was also intervening in a Buried Alive match between Vince McMahon and The Undertaker, assisting McMahon in defeating The Undertaker and winning the match. Kane was unemployed when he heard the call from The Undertaker's entrance song, distracting and distressing Kane, and allowing Booker T to dismantle him in January 2004. Kane has consistently stated that The Undertaker was "dead," only to face a rainstorm localized over the ring in which he stood for several weeks. The Undertaker then returned to WrestleMania XX (again sporting his "Deadman" persona), defeating Kane.

Kane fell in love with Lita after losing at WrestleMania XX, but was spurred. Kane was kidnapped Lita in May, and the two men were crowned in a 20-man battle royal for a World Heavyweight Championship match against Chris Benoit at Bad Blood on Saturday. Kane and La Resistance defeated Edge and Benoit in a handicap tag team match against Bad Blood, six days before Bad Blood, and Kane pinned Benoit. However, Kane lost at Bad Blood to Benoit. Lita later revealed she was pregnant, alongside Matt Hardy, her then-boyfriend, on and off-screen, implying that he was the child's father. Kane claimed to be the father on the June 21 episode of Raw. He argued that he had impregnated Lita to continue his legacy and defended a claim against Shawn Michaels a week earlier by claiming that Michaels had stood in the way of his victory in the World Heavyweight Championship. Kane's general manager Eric Bischoff gave Kane a rematch with Benoit, instructing Benoit that he could only win by submission, while Kane could win the title by any means. Kane lost again to Benoit, and Lita followed him to choke her in retaliation but quickly realized that she was attempting to persuade him to miscarry their child.

In a "Till Death Do Us Part" match at SummerSlam, Kane and Matt Hardy faced one another, with Lita obliged to wed the winner. On the August 23 episode of Raw, Kane defeated Hardy at SummerSlam and Lita "married" Lita. Despite being stabbed by Hardy during the wedding, he recovered the upper hand and eventually choked Hardy off the stage. Kane and Lita were given the gift of selecting any match that Kane wanted at Unforgiven a week after the wedding. In a no-disqualification match at Unforgiven, Shawn Michaels was chosen and defeated Kane. On the next night, Kane accidentally fell on Lita during a match with debuting Gene Snitsky, who struck him on the back with a steel chair, causing Lita to miscarry. Kane retaliated against Snitsky for his child's death, but at Taboo on Tuesday, he lost to Snitsky in a steel chain match (which was not chosen by the fans). Kane was hospitalized for several months after Snitsky crushed his larynx with a chair during the match. See No Evil, Jacobs had time to finish his role in the film.

Kane returned in January 2005, defeating Snitsky at the New Year's Revolution. After WrestleMania 21, Kane and Lita reconciled with one another, and Lita's rival Trish Stratus was antagonized. Kane and Stratus' hired bodyguard Viscera at Backlash, which was a match that was lost by Kane. Lita later took on Kane and began an on-screen relationship with her real-life partner at the time Edge. Kane and Edge, who Kane defeated at Vengeance amid Snitsky's interference, culminated in a feud between Kane and Edge. Edge defeated Kane in a Stretcher match on the July 25 episode of Raw, bringing the feud to an end.

On the October 17 episode of Raw, Kane returned to WWE television for the 18-man battle royal. He, Big Show and Shawn Michaels were selected in an internet poll to determine who would win a shot at the WWE Championship in Taboo on Tuesday, as a result of his triumph. Kane and Big Show teamed up on several occasions in the weeks leading up to Taboo's Tuesday. Michaels took the vote, while Kane and Big Show teamed up to face Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch, defeating them for the World Tag Team Championship. The pair stayed their championship until the end of 2005, when they were involved in an inter-protest with SmackDown members. This is a brand that is not a member of the Royal Institute of British painters. Kane defeated Triple H in an Elimination Chamber qualifier match on December 12 on Raw's December 12; Kane later competed in the Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship in New Year's Revolution, but Carlito and Chris Masters disqualified him. Beginning in a fruitful title defense at WrestleMania 22, he and Big Show feuded with Carlito and Masters in early 2006. Kane and the Big Show lost the World Tag Team Championship to Spirit Squad members Kenny and Mikey the following evening. Kane and Big Show defeated Spirit Squad members Johnny and Nicky in a rematch for the title, but they were disqualified due to "voices in his head" one week later.

Kane began raging anyone who mentioned the date of May 19. Kane's voice became echoed throughout the arena as "May 19th" "It's happening again" and "They're all going to know," leaving Kane visibly shaken. Kane was then struck with a chair, resulting in a no contest.

On May 19, Kane appeared on SmackDown!

As Rey Mysterio's hand-picked rival, John "Bradshaw" Layfield (JBL)'s hand-picked rival. Kane choked JBL and Mysterio before leaving the arena after the aforementioned voices and mask footage started playing. He said on the following episode of Raw that May 19 was the date on which his mother and adopted family were killed in a fire. The voices continued on to Raw's May 29 episode, when Kane was confronted by the source of the voice, an impostor Kane; wearing Kane's old mask and ring attire, he choked Kane during his match against Shelton Benjamin in the Intercontinental Championships. In subsequent weeks, Kane and the lookalike continued to fight one another, resulting in a match between the two being called for Vengeance, in which the real Kane lost to the impostor. Kane threw the impostor out of the arena and took off his mask on the 26th episode of Raw, saying, "I think this is mine." Kane was out of WWE television for two months after he toured Europe to promote See No Evil.

Kane returned to SummerSlam, blaming Umaga for intervening in the D-Generation-X versus Mr. McMahon tag team match. In a losing effort, he met his old partner Big Show at the ECW World Championship on his return to the United Kingdom for the ECW World Championship. Kane will be involved in a big feud with Umaga that ended on October 9 in a Loser Leaves Raw match that he lost.

Kane made it to the SmackDown! Brand. Kane and The Brothers of Destruction team reunited with The Undertaker in November 3 on SmackDown! to defeat Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) and Mr. Kennedy. Kane and MVP were locked in a feud with MVPs from several gimmick matches. The result of the feud was an Inferno match at Armageddon; Kane defeated MVP's back on fire, resulting in first degree burns.

On the SmackDown!

Kane was involved in a six-man elimination over-the-top-rope contest royal with King Booker, MVP, The Miz, Chris Benoit, and Finlay before the Royal Rumble. The Undertaker was suspended after Kane was banned and disciplined by the remaining opponents, bringing the match to a no-contest.

Kane defeated King Booker in the Royal Rumble, but Booker re-entered the ring and banished Kane. On the first episode of SmackDown!, Booker was assaulted by Kane, who sparked a feud between the two countries. Kane defeated King Booker at No Way Out. Kane lost in a Falls Count Anywhere match after interference from The Great Khali, sparking a feud between the two teams on February 23. Kane began walking around with a hook similar to the hook he used as Jacob Goodnight in See No Evil. Kane lost to Khali at WrestleMania. Kane picked up Khali for the first time and body-slammed him to the mat during the match, in honor of Hulk Hogan's 20th anniversary of WrestleMania III.

He began to feud with William Regal and Dave Taylor after WrestleMania. The Boogeyman joined the feud after teaming up with Kane. Kane competed in a top-one contender's match for the United States Championship against MVP on May 4 on SmackDown! Kane was disengaged by Regal and Taylor's intrusion. Kane was involved in a deadly four-way number one contender's match for the World Heavyweight Championship, which was won by Batista on May 25 episode of SmackDown! Kane soon became entangled in a Lumberjack match at One Night Stand, losing to him due to interference from lumberjacks Kenny Dykstra and Chavo Guerrero Jr. and then going on a short hiatus. Kane will face opponent SmackDown! on the 6th episode of SmackDown! Batista took on Kane after Edge was assaulted and injured, and the title was vacated, and on the number 20 episode of SmackDown, a top-one contender's match was played. During the match, the new World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali manipulated Batista; the match was declared a no-contest and both men were deemed the number one contenders and were set to face Khali in a triple threat match at The Great American Bash. After defeating Kane at The Great American Bash, Khali retained the title. Kane later joined Batista in the Main Event XXV on Saturday Night to defeat Khali and Finlay. Kane continued to develop a relationship with Finlay, which culminated in a match at SummerSlam, which Kane won after chokeslamming Finlay. On the August 31 episode of SmackDown, they continued to feud, with Kane losing to Finlay in a number one contender's tournament. Hornswoggle's interference has caused a ruckus.

Kane then appeared on ECW's October 16 episode as the hand-chosen partner of ECW Champion CM Punk, helping him beat John Morrison, The Miz, and Big Daddy V in a three-on-two handicap match. Big Daddy Vinci of SmackDown! on October 19, igniting a feud between the two characters in revenge. In the weeks that followed, the two teams continued to clash. Kane was selected to face the current champion MVP of the United States Championship at Cyber Sunday, but Kane did not win the competition by countout and did not win the trophy. He went on to feud with Big Daddy V, with the two teams finding themselves on opposite teams at Survivor Series, where Kane's team prevailed. Big Daddy V eventually joined Mark Henry, though Kane joined CM Punk. After Big Daddy V and Henry pinned Punk, the feud came to an end at Armageddon, where Kane and Punk lost to Big Daddy V and Henry.

Kane defeated former WrestleMania XXIV's chief competitor Mark Henry, advancing to a match against Chavo Guerrero later that night. Kane won the ECW Championship in the second fastest WrestleMania match, defeating Guerrero in less than ten seconds. Kane officially joined the ECW shortly after winning the championship. Kane defended the ECW Championship against Guerrero despite Backlash. He continued working with CM Punk to win a WWE Tag Team Championship match at Judgment Day, which they lost to John Morrison and The Miz. Kane was recruited to the Raw brand as part of the 2008 WWE Draft, bringing the ECW Championship exclusive to Raw. In a triple threat match that also involved Big Show, Kane lost the ECW Championship to Mark Henry at Night of Champions.

Kane lost a crucial four-way match to Batista on July 7 on Raw, leading him to accuse commentators Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler, who later turned heel in the process. Kane interfered and assaulted both the champion and the challenger Batista, resulting in a double disqualification. Kane began a feud with Rey Mysterio that lasted through the Survivor Series in September. Kane pinned Mike Knox in a triple threat match involving Rey Mysterio and Rey Mysterio on March 2, gaining a spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 25, a match that was eventually won by CM Punk. During the 2009 draft, Kane defeated The Brian Kendrick for a draft pick, and later in the night, he was invited to the SmackDown brand. Kane feuded with CM Punk and defeated him at Backlash. He took a break to tour India and also treated injuries before returning to The Bash to assist Dolph Ziggler in his match with The Great Khali by hitting Khali with a steel chair, allowing him to win. This set up a feud with Khali, who he defeated at SummerSlam and in a Singapore Cane match at Breaking Point. Kane, alongside Chris Jericho, was co-captain for the triumphant Team SmackDown at Bragging Rights. Kane then unsuccessfully challenged Jericho in a number one challenge for a chance to meet World Heavyweight Champion The Undertaker and Big Show in a triple threat match at Survivor Series. Kane reunited with The Undertaker in November to battle Big Show and Jericho, thus turning face. Kane was unsuccessful in claiming the briefcase at WrestleMania XXVI, when Jack Swagger claimed the match. Kane appeared in sporadic singles matches on episodes of SmackDown, including a loss to CM Punk in May in a qualifying match for the Fatal 4-Way pay-per-view tournament.

Kane said he had found his brother The Undertaker in a "vegetative state" over Memorial Day weekend and vowed revenge on whoever was responsible on June 4 episode of SmackDown. Political career

Jacobs is active in libertarian politics and writes about it on a blog. In 2008, Jacobs endorsed Texas congressman Ron Paul for President.

He is a member of the Free State Project and gave a address at the 2009 New Hampshire Liberty Forum, which was hosted by the organization. He has also spoken at the Ludwig von Mises Institute, an anarcho-capitalist think tank aimed at the Austrian school of Economics, which has a Ludwig von Mises Institute.

In an interview with The Tom Woods Show libertarian podcast, Jacobs referred to Woods, Harry Browne, Ron Paul, John Stossel, Peter Schiff, and Murray Rothbard as his political influences, but does not believe that a stateless society can be achieved in his lifetime.

Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee and some Tea Party allies attempted to recruit Jacobs to run in the Republican primary in Tennessee against Sen. Lamar Alexander in 2014.

Jacobs said in May 2016 that he was "seriously considering" a bid for the Knox County, Tennessee mayoral seat in 2018, but that he would make a final decision after the 2016 presidential election.

Jacobs declared in March 2017 that he was officially running for the mayoral seat of Knox County as a Republican. Jacobs won the Republican primary election for Knox County, Tennessee, by 17 votes on May 1, 2018. Jacobs received 14,633 (36.09%), Brad Anders got 14,616 (36.05%), and Bob Thomas got 11,296 (27.86%). Jacobs was elected mayor on August 2, 2018, defeating Democratic rival Linda Haney by a vote of 51,804 (43.8 percent) to 26,224 (33.6 percent).

Jacobs said in a recent interview with Fox News promoting a newly published book of his, that the Democratic Party was contributing to further division by pursuing it.

Jacobs was the only member of the Knox County Board of Health to oppose a mask law for those inside such buildings in July 2020. He defended his vote by saying, "I'm worried that one-size-fits-all orders like this set a disastrous precedent for government overreach, are impossible to follow, and can lead to differences between the authorities and the public when followed." He'll enter a conflict with the board in September 2020 after he shot a video in which fellow citizens were featured on Jacobs' description of them as "unelected bureaucrats who cast down edicts that have no accountability and no recourse." He would campaign for the removal of the Board and later compelled the Knox County Commission to call a referendum restricting their powers from April to March 2021.

Jacobs declared in March 2021 that he would run for reelection for a second term, defeating Democratic Senator Debbie Helsley in the general election, which took place on August 5, 2022.
