Kamal Khan (born 25 April 1989) is a Bollywood playback singer.

In 2010, he took home the reality singing competition, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar.

He received the Zee Cine Awards "Fresh Singing Talent 2012" for the song Ishq Sufiyana (Male) from the film The Dirty Picture (2012) later in 2012. He released the single Punjabi song "Dili Sara" starring Kuwar Virk in 2017.

Overnight, the song became a big hit.

As of August 2018, the video has more than 34 million views on YouTube.

Early life and career

Kamal was born and raised in Reeth kheri village, Punjab, near Patiala, Punjab, to Zafar Khan and Sakina Ali, who is an employee health department in Patiala. Kamal began learning music at the age of five from his uncle (Mama ji) Ustad Shauqat Ali Deewana ji, who became his musical mentor. His mother is also a music lover. Later, he left his studies because he began competing in singing competitions and musical performances. His father did not want him to become a singer until he appeared in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. He revealed in one of the show's episodes, wherein his father welcomed a visitor and a surprise appearance, that after his father's recommendation, he began working in a factory where his daily wage was only Rs. A day goes by for 40. On his payday, he begged his father to collect his first paycheck. When his dad left to get Kamal's first paycheck, he wept and realized that he should let Kamal pursue his singing. When Kamal was a contestant of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa because he likes Ustad Fateh Ali Khan's songs and performs his song as him.

Career

He began his career in 2010 after being selected as a contestant on the singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar. He had the Vishal-Shekhar duo as mentor-judge. He went on to win the grand finale at Andheri Sports Complex, Mumbai, on December 25, 2010, while still owning a Grand MK II bike and a Hero ZMR bike. "Wallah Re Wallah," a show's founders, became his real-life mentors and eventually gifted him his debut playback song, "Wel Come The People" in Tees Maar Khan (2010), a day before the show ended. With the hit "Ishk Sufiana" for The Dirty Picture (2012), they gave him his big break. He rose to fame in 2013 with Jolly LLB's song "Jhooth Bolliya." His album "Dilli Sara" was also very popular in 2017.
