K Callan (born Katherine Elizabeth Borman) is an American author and actress best known for her role as Clark Kent's mother Martha in the ABC television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.

Early years

Callan was born in Dallas, Texas. She felt she wanted to act as a child at 5 years old. She studied drama at North Texas State University in Denton as a student. She began teaching drama at a Catholic girls' academy, and she developed a children's theater.

Personal life

Callan was married to and divorced from author James Ruskin Callan. Jamie Callan, Kelly Callan, and Kristi Callan are three children of the couple.

Career

Callan first appeared on television in an episode of Route 66 that happened to be shooting in Dallas. She resumed her on-camera work in 1970, guest-starring in roles on One Day at a Time, St. Elsewhere, Carnivàle, JAG, JAG, Coach and King of the Hill. In numerous episodes of Dallas' penultimate season, she appeared in the Emmy Award-winning episode "Cousin Liz" of All in the Family. Daisy LaRue appeared on Meet the Browns as Mrs. Monroe, Gabe Duncan's tutor, in Good Luck Charlie. Ilene Britt, the mother of Edie Britt (Nicollette Sheridan), appeared on several episodes of How I Met Your Mother, and she also appeared in the third season finale of Desperate Housewives as Ilene Britt (Nicollette Sheridan). In Heroes' one episode, she appeared as Charlie (as an elderly woman).

Joe (1970), A Touch of Class (1973), A Touch of Class (1979), The Onion Field (1980), A Change of Seasons (1980), and Knives Down (1979), as well as the 1966 television version of Lanford Wilson's The Rimers of Eldritch.

She has written several books, including The Los Angeles Agent, The Script Is Overwritten, Now What Do I Do?, Directing Your Directing Career, and How to Sell Yourself as an Actor. She obtained her acting experience at HB Studios in New York City.
