Wilcox, who was on a rough start to his career, jumped into Koscheck at American Kickboxing Academy, as well as dropping down a weight class to compete at Lightweight.

Wilcox fought against Mitsuhiro Ishida in his Strikeforce debut and was defeated by submission (armbar) at 1:21 of the first round.

Wilcox won three straight fights over David Douglas, PRIDE veteran Daisuke Nakamura, and Shamar Bailey of The Ultimate Fighter 13.

Wilcox met V.tor Ribeiro, a DREAM veteran, in the main event of Strikeforce Challengers: Wilcox vs. Ribeiro on November 19, 2010. He was a winner in the fight by a unanimous decision (30-27, 30–27, 30–27).

Wilcox was defeated by Top 15 Featherweight, Patricio Freire, in the finals of the Featherweight Tournament, which took place at Bellator 108.
