Justin Pierre Life

Justin Courtney Pierre (born May 26, 1976) is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Mahtomedi, Minnesota, United States.

He was the co-founder and lead vocalist of the pop punk band Motion City Soundtrack, and he is known for his work and performances in film making and music production.

Early life

Justin Pierre was born in Mahtomedi, Minnesota. During his youth, he loved skateboarding and listening to hip-hop like Run-DMC and the Beastie Boys. Pierre became a big fan of alternative metal band Faith No More in 1990; the appearance of frontman Mike Patton inspired him greatly. Angel Dust, Faith No More's album, would be one of his top albums of all time. Pierre attended Mahtomedi High School, where he first became involved with indie rock. During this period, Pierre became a huge fan of bands such as Sonic Youth, The Boo Radleys, and The Pixies. Pierre performed guitar and performed in a band called Slide Coaster, who released an album titled Thrown in 1995. The group eventually disbanded, allowing Pierre to refocus more on his passion of making short films. However, Joshua Cain pleaded with him to continue making music and recruited Pierre to join his band, which would later become Motion City Soundtrack.

In 1997, Justin Pierre formed Motion City Soundtrack with friend Joshua Cain, becoming both the lead singer and playing rhythm guitar simultaneously. He and Cain were both members of the band's moog synthesizer before being pushed to the front of the band's line. Pierre was the band's primary lyricist, and he was known for his pronounced sideburns, wild hair, and glasses (which are Kirk Originals).

Pierre has struggled with alcohol and heroin use in the past, and during the recording of Commit This To Memory, he relapsed and binge drank as a result of a marriage break. Pierre is an asthmatic, and he has been compelled to use his inhaler on stage at times.

On January 19, 2010, the band's fourth album, My Dinosaur Life, came out. To promote the album, Pierre was "trucking along on The Dino Trail." He began his promotional tour in Chicago on November 1 and was touring around the country, performing "meet ups, impromptu appearances, in store appearances, and other shenanigans that would surely follow along."

Go, the band's 5th album, was released on June 12, 2012. Panic Stations, the band's sixth album, was released on September 18, 2015.

Pierre makes short films, went to Minneapolis Community and Technical College for film but did not have a degree. When at home, recording, and on tour, he now works on independent short films. His most popular is "Karen," and he appeared at few film festivals early in and spring 2007, including the 3rd annual Griffon International Film Festival (GIFF) and the Sacramento International Film Festival.

Pierre has been instrumental in the development of music videos for other bands. He co-directed the music video for Limbeck's "Big Drag," as well as co-directing with Shane Nelson the film for Sing It Loud's "No One Can Touch Us," which was created by MCS' guitarist Joshua Cain.

Justin is a writer who performed on "Chicago is So Two Years Ago," "We're Not Afraid," Metro Station's "We're Not Afraid," "We're Not Afraid," is a video game that can be seen on several occasions on Fallout Boy's "Chicago is a film starring Joshua Cain and The Rocket) and is said to have appeared on YouTube. Everything's Great" is a video on "Chil Are You Kitten Me? He also performs and assisted with the writing of a song with the Michigan City band Grown Ups. During Canvas' Volume 2: Poetry From the Indie Music Scene, we shared a short story about a certain individual in his life who was also addicted to alcohol. On Metro Station's self-titled debut album, Pierre also performed two songs (along with Joshua Cain) and was also on stage with Joshua Cain.

In a post-nuclear wasteland, Pierre portrays Tommy, a boy on a quest to save his dying sister.

Pierre is also a member of Farewell Continental, which hasn't revealed him as a member until recently. On May 10, 2011, the group's first full-length album was released, followed by a tour of the United States.
