Career

Mak began his musical career as a pop star with Universal Music. Universal Music has released two albums, On the Road and Next Step. Both albums debuted on TVB. Despite winning awards on his first appearance, it was later discovered that his followers were paid by professional organisations earning up to HKD150 an hour, and that audience members booed him at an awards function in 2002.

The 2015 EP Addendum produced the hit singles "Unfortable" (), "Imperfection" (), and the award-winning duet "Rashmon" (), a duet with Kay Tse.

Mak wrote and starred in Wong Ching-po's film Revenge: A Love Story in 2010. The film was a mix of slasher and love tale. Mak and Wong Ching-po met again in 2011 on the film Let's Go!

Mak produced Rigor Mortis, a film that pays homage to the 1980s Jiangshi style. It was announced that Mak would direct Sons of the Neon Night in 2015.
