Career

Butters began working in commercials at the age of two. Gabby appeared in a Criminal Minds episode of the same name for her first speaking role. Ella appeared in Amazon Prime Video's Transparent for eight episodes in 2016. Anna-Kat Otto, the ABC sitcom American Housewife, debuted later this year.

Quentin Tarantino was writing the script for his ninth film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, he spotted Butters on television and later cast her as the precocious child actress Trudi Fraser. Butters and her team decided to pursue similar opportunities for her after she was given critical praise for this position, causing her to leave American Housewife after four seasons, with former Life in Pieces actress Giselle Eisenberg replacing her.

Butters appeared in Netflix's The Gray Man in December 2020. Butters was cast in Steven Spielberg's forthcoming semi-autobiographical coming-of-age film, as Reggie Fabelman, a character based on Spielberg's sister. Butters was cast as twin Lily in the upcoming horror film Queen of Bones in August 2022.
