Juan Formell (August 2, 1942 – May 1, 2014) was a Cuban bassist, composer, and arranger best known as the director of Los Van Van Van Van Van Van's. * He was credited with the introduction of electronic instrumentation to Cuban musical style, as well as a composer of popular danceable music. Juan Claudio (John Climacus) was his full name. He began performing as a cabaret orchestra player, radio, and television in 1957. * He served as a bassist with the Musical Band of Revolutionary Police in 1959. * He died at the age of 71 in 2014.
