Josip Brekalo (Croatian pronunciation: [jsip brkelo]; born 23 June 1998) is a Croatian footballer who plays as a winger for Bundesliga clubs VfL Wolfsburg and the Croatian national team.

Personal life

Club career

Brekalo is a youth protester from Dinamo Zagreb. He made his league debut against Inter Zapni on December 19, 2015. On May 15, 2016, he signed for Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg for €10 million.

Brekalo was loaned out to VfB Stuttgart until the end of the season, with the option of a new year. When Stuttgart gained promotion in June 2018, the loan contract was initially extended until June 2018. On February 17, 2017, Brekalo scored his first senior goal for VfB Stuttgart against 1. FC Heidenheim is a footballer from Heidenheim. On January 1, 2018, Brekalo returned to Wolfsburg prematurely. In a 3–0 win over Union Berlin on May 8, 2021, he scored his first career hat-trick.

International career
