Fat Joe Career

Music career

Cartagena, under the stage name Fat Joe da Gangsta and part of the D.I.T.C. band, was signed to Relativity Records in the early 1990s, recording work, and working with many artists whom he would later sign to his own brand. His debut album Representation was released in 1993, starring The Beatnuts, Diamond D, Lord Finesse, and others. "Flow Joe" the album's lead single, reached the top of the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart, while "Watch the Sound" and "This Shit Is Real" were among the album's other minor singles.

Fat Joe's Envy, his second studio album, debuted on The Billboard 200 in 1995 and at #7 on Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums, peaking at #71 on The Billboard 200 and at #7 on Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums. The album featured a special guest appearance from KRS-One and Diamond D's production, but his second single, "Envy," debuted at #8 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart, despite not charting. Fat Joe discovered that his rap idol, LL Cool J, was in another room with Trackmasters, composing on LL's remix of LL's single "I Shot Ya" one day while writing for the album "I Shot Ya." Joe appeared on the record and in its accompanying video alongside Foxy Brown, Keith Murray, and Probb Deep, who were invited to write a verse. Joe has rated the track as one of his career's highlights.

Joe discovered fellow Latino rapper Big Puny, who was featured on the song "Watch Out" during Jealous One's recording. "Latinos before we had the opportunity to do it, but didn't know how to do it," Joe later explained. They came in to perform this black music while waving flags. [But] we're trying to welcome other Latinos and represent our people, and it shows."

Don Cartagena's third album and first for Atlantic Records, and his third for Atlantic Records, and his third for Atlantic Records, was released on September 1, 1998. It was published as part of Terror Squad Productions, which was also affiliated with his own brand Terror Squad Productions. It topped at #7 and #2 on Top R&B/Hip Hop albums, eventually being named gold by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIAA).

"Bet Ya Man Can't Triz," "John Blaze," and "Don Cartagena" were three singles with accompanying music videos on the album. Nas, Puff Daddy, Big Pun, Raekwon, Jadakiss, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony were among the guest appearances at Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Fat Joe introduced his own Terror Squad, which included the late Big Pun, Cuban Link, Triple Seis, Armageddon, and later Remy Ma. Joe himself admitted that he had been chastised for releasing only one solo album by a former Terror Squad member, Remy Ma, as well as barely promoting original members in "Reality Story." Terror Squad singer Tony Sunshine has had potential album debut dates pushed back more than three years, and Joe had argued that artists Prospect and Armageddon have not released solo albums as a result of their being "very lazy." When asked who had written Fat Joe's songs, Triple Seis went on record, saying that Joe and Punctu were Joe's ghostwriters for Don Cartagena, and that Joe continues to employ ghostwriters. He appeared on Jennifer Lopez's single "Feelin So Good" from her On the 6 album with late rapper Big Pun, in 1999.

Fat Joe's fourth album Jealous Ones Still Envy (J.O.S.E.) Irv Gotti's production appeared in 2001. The album featured a star-studded lineup from Ashanti, Ja Rule, N.O.R.E., Busta Rhymes, M.O.P., Ludacris, R. Kelly, Buju Banton, and artists from his Terror Squad collection. In late 2001, R. Kelly's lead single "We Thuggin'" was a big success, but not to the same extent as the Irv Gotti-produced "What's Luv?" In early 2002, a major hit was announced, starring Ja Rule and Ashanti. Fat Joe was compiled by The Squad Music at the time of the album's release. Fat Joe's biggest hit from its inception in January to May, being certified platinum. Fat Joe's fifth album Loyalty, which was released later in 2002, was not as popular.

Fat Joe appeared in Mexican singer Thal's pop single "I Want You" in 2003. On the Comedy Central program Chappelle's Show, hosted by comedian Dave Chappelle, he and Tony Sunshine performed the single "Crush Tonight" from Loyalty the previous year.

Despite the setback, Fat Joe's Terror Squad, his brother, formed with Remy Ma in 2004 on the Scott Storch's "Lean Back" from the album True Story, earned a number one hit. The song, according to Jason Birchmeier of AllMusic, is "a stunning club-ready duet between Joe and Remy Ma that features a signature Scott Storch beat as a result of a memorable singalong hook and dance-along step." He began recording material for Ivy Queen's debut English-language hip hop music in support of her aim to be competitive in the world of English-language hip hop music.

Fat Joe's sixth album All or Nothing debuted in 2005, aimed at fellow New York rapper 50 Cent, who had mocked Joe for being on Ja Rule. "So Much More" and "Get It Poppin" starring Nelly, as well as Eminem, Mase, Remy Ma, Mashonda, and R. Kelly, were among Eminem's guest appearances on "So Much More." In his song "Piggy Bank" from his best-selling 2005 album The Massacre, 50 Cent responded to "My Fofo." On a phone interview with Kay Slay of New York City hip-hop radio station WQHT, Fat Joe subsequently attacked 50's street credibility and called him a "coward." The 2005 MTV Video Music Awards were still on display, but Fat Joe introduced the reggaeton act starring Daddy Yankee, Joe said, "I feel secure with all the police protection"—thanks to G-Unit." Joe was shot by 50 Cents for an obscenity at Joe, and 50 Cent charged an obscenity at Joe, just short of being thrown on stage as Fat Joe was leaving.

His Atlantic Records catalog is no longer under Warner Music Group's control, and the Razor & Tie creators' company RT Industries, a company established by Razor & Tie founders, has been sold in 2017. However, Warner Music holds the digital distribution rights, although it is no longer under the ADA division. This divestment was necessary as a result of a pact with IMPALA and the Merlin Network relating to Warner Music's purchase of Parlophone Records from EMI.

Fat Joe's seventh album, "Me & I," was released in 2006. On his first album with Virgin Records, it was his first album. It featured southern rapper Lil Wayne's hit song "Make It Rain," as well as "No Drama (Clap and Revolve)" and "No Drama (Clap and Revolve). Fat Joe participated in a freestyle cipher segment of VH1's "Freestyle 59" competition in October 2006, prior to the VH1 Hip Hop Honors featuring New Jersey emcee Neuse.

Fat Joe appeared in DJ Khaled's "We're Over" as the lead, Akon, T.I., Rick Ross, Birdman, and Lil Wayne, as well as Khaled's "I'm So Hood" with Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, and Birdman. During this time period, verbal clashes between Fat Joe and 50 Cent were ongoing: On the BET show Rap City in September 2007, 50 Cent accused Fat Joe of being cowardly for refusing to confront him, but Fat Joe denied this accusation as nonsense. "Southside Nigga (I'm Leaving)" was another Fat Joe diss in January, but "I'm leaving" was later published. Fat Joe and his long-time accountant Brian Dittrich denied rumors that Fat Joe owed the IRS taxes at the end of January 2008.

Fat Joe's eighth solo studio album The Elephant in the Room was released by Imperial Records, a division of Capitol Records and Terror Squad Entertainment, and was released on March 11, 2008; its lead single was "I Won't Tell" starring singer J. It's holiday. The album debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 for the sixth time. Following a Plies' "Ain't Sayin' Nuthin" was followed by a Plies.

Fat Joe's latest album The Elephant in the Room, 50 cents on his YouTube account, which features the "funeral" of Fat Joe, which shows 50 Cents screaming in the fake video. Unlike Fat Joe's record and states that he ended Fat Joe's career (as he claims he did to Ja Rule's) and that his mixtape knocked out Fat Joe's album.

J.O.S.E., Fat Joe's ninth solo studio album. Around the end of June 2009, a 2, which was not released until June 2009.
