José Carlos Ramírez (born August 12, 1992) is an American professional boxer.
He is the unified WBC and WBO light welterweight champion, having held the WBC title since 2018 and the WBO title since July 2019.
As an amateur he was the number one rated in the WBC lightweight in the United States and represented the U.S at the 2012 Olympics.
As of November 2019, he is ranked as the world's second best active light welterweight by BoxRec and The Ring, and fourth by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board.

Amateur career
Ramrez took the National Amateur Boxing Championships in the United States at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He's also a Jr. Golden Gloves National Champion, two-time Olympic National Champion, and a two-time Ringside World Champion. His family now lives in Avenal, California, where he lived all his life. Jose qualified to represent the United States in the 2012 Olympic Games by defeating 2008 Olympian Raynell Williams 21-16 in the finals of the 2012 United States Olympic Boxing Trials. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Ramrez defeated Rachid Azzedine and then lost to Fazliddin Gaibnazarov.
Professional career
Ramrez became a professional in 2012 and has been regarded as a top Rank fighter by Bob Arum since the same year.
Ramrez won the vacant WBC Continental Americas light welterweight title after compiling a perfect 15-0 record on December 5, 2015. He will continue to defend the title a total of four times.
Ramrez won the vacant WBC super lightweight title on March 17, 2018, defeating Amir Imam by unanimous decision, 117-111, 113-113. Ramrez had a bad eye on the Imam's right eye and received slews of punches throughout the war.
Ramrez defeated Antonio Orozco, then #3 by the WBC at light welterweight, at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California, in his next fight. The defending champion managed to knock his opponent twice, once in the fourth round and twice in the eighth round. Despite the two beatings, Orozco gave his best and even became the aggressor at times. In the end, Ramrez was clearly defeated, with all three judges deciding in favour of the champion 119-107.
Ramrez defeated Jose Zepeda, who was ranked #14 in the WBC at light welterweight, in his next title defense. Zepeda was leading early rounds of the competition. In the fourth round, Ramrez began to take over the fight. Ramrez ended the fight good, particularly in the last 20 seconds, unleashing power shots on Zepeda. Ramrez was able to win by majority vote in a very competitive contest.
Ramrez fought undefeated WBO light welterweight champion Maurice Hooker in a unification fight on July 27, 2019. Ramrez was first able to dismiss Hooker in the first round, and despite replays proving that Ramrez had stepped on Hooker's foot, it was declared a official knockdown. The match slowed as the rounds progressed, favoring Hooker. Ramrez managed to the chin with a left hand to the head and then a big left to the head, sending Hooker reeling against the wires. The referee called the match to stop with 1:48 to go in the round, giving Ramrez the technical knockout win. Hooker was helpless.
Ramrez defended his WBC and WBO titles against former WBC champion Viktor Postol, winning a majority decision with scores of 116-112, 114-114.
Ramrez attempted to become the first undisputed champion of Mexican descent in Paradise, Nevada, in a showdown for the undisputed light welterweight championship. Ramrez was defeated twice in the sixth and seventh rounds, both times by Taylor's left hand, and finally lost by unanimous vote with all three judges scoring the match 114-112 in favor of Taylor.
Ramrez will face former two-weight world champion José Pedraza on February 5, 2022, in the main event of an ESPN broadcast Top Rank card, which was announced on October 30, 2021.
