Bleary-eyed Reading and Leeds festival music fans pack up their tents (that weren't blown away by the wind) and head home

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 26, 2024
Festivalgoers clutched onto their sleeping bags in the sunshine as they boarded a bus back to Reading station following a weekend mired by wet and dreary weather after Britain was battered by Storm Lilian and 60mph winds that sent tents flying. Revellers were looking weary with some still wearing their pyjamas as they trudged along on bank holiday Monday lugging trollies packed with their belongings and pillows. Those heading out on the roads face battling with 20million other drivers on congested roads. Warm temperatures of up to 24C (75F) will prompt an estimated six million people to take day trips on the last bank holiday before Christmas , according to the RAC. Another 13million will be journeying home from weekend breaks today, with drivers urged to travel in the early morning or mid-evening to avoid the worst queues.

Here comes the sun! Revellers at Reading and Leeds festival finally get a ray of light after dreary start to bank holiday weekend - with temperatures rising to 21C

Revellers at Reading and Leeds festival are finally seeing some summer sun after a dreary start to the bank holiday weekend. The Met Office said there had been 'a taste of autumn' as temperatures fell quite widely into single figures ahead of a fresh Sunday morning and a blustery day with temperatures of around 20C in the south east. Festivalgoers at Bramham Park in the West Yorkshire city and at Little John's Farm in Berkshire were pictured wearing their best festival attires as they hope to enjoy the last day of music after Storm Lilian had caused chaos for most of the weekend. Huge 60mph gusts of wind and heavy rain sent tents across both sites flying into the air and two stages were forced to be shut down in Leeds. But those in attendance will join the rest of the UK in making the most of Sunday's brighter weather, including the millions who have descended on west London to enjoy Notting Hill Carnival.

Leeds bosses confirm two stages will be closed for the ENTIRE festival after 'Mother Nature played her part' - with a month's worth of rain expected to fall in parts of Britain today

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 24, 2024
Storm Lilian shut down three stages at the four-day festival including the BBC Radio 1 stage, the Aux stage and the Chevron stage - only the latter will be opened again this weekend. Organisers said they are 'devastated' for festival-goers and 'of course the artists that were eager to play'. Brit Award winner Jorja Smith , rock band The Wombats and American singer Teddy Swims were all due to perform on the now out-of-use stages. It comes amidst revellers at Leeds Festival demanding refunds as performances were cancelled yesterday and wild winds sent tents flying.
