Jonathan Allen Career

College career

Allen played in 13 games at Alabama as a true freshman in 2013 and had 16 tackles. He appeared in all 14 games and made 12 starts as a freshman in 2014. After registering 33 tackles and 5.5 sacks, he was named first-team All-SEC. Allen played for the Crimson Tide in 2015, defeating the Clemson Tigers by a score of 45–40. Allen went on to win the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Chuck Bednarik Award, and the Lombardi Award for his efforts in the 2016 season.

Professional career

Allen was forecast to be a top-five pick by some NFL draft experts coming out of Alabama. His stock began to decline as teams became worried when he was diagnosed with arthritis in one of his shoulders and underwent surgery on both of them, two weeks before the merge. Sports Illustrated, Pro Football Focus, and NFLDraftScout.com ranked him as the best defensive tackle in the sport. He was rated as the second best defensive lineman behind Myles Garrett by ESPN. Allen was expected to be a first-round pick by analysts and scouts, even with the arthritis diagnosis.

Allen was selected by the Washington Redskins in the first round, 17th overall, of the 2017 NFL Draft. On May 11, 2017, he signed his four-year rookie contract worth $11.59 million. In a Week 3 game against the Oakland Raiders, Allen was fired for his first game in his career. He sustained a Lisfranc injury against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6. On October 19, 2017, he underwent surgery and was placed on injured reserve.

Allen played in all 16 games for the 2018 season, with eight sacks, 61 total tackles, and 15 quarterback hits. On April 27, 2020, the team tried the fifth-year option on his deal. Allen converted from defensive coordinator to defensive tackle after his first three seasons of his career, according to team's new defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio, who introduced a 4-3 defensive scheme.

Allen signed a four-year deal extension worth $72 million on July 27, 2021.

On December 13, 2021, he was put on the COVID-19 reserve list but five days later, he was called back to the active roster. He set a new career high of 8. sacks in a single season after being fired in the Week 15 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. During a blowout Monday Night Football loss to the Cowboys in Week 16, Allen punched teammate Daron Payne on the sideline. Following the season, he was named to the 2022 Pro Bowl, his first appearance.

He recorded three tackles and a sack in Week 1 of the 2022 season, the only one for the Commanders to play in that game.

Mr Pothole warns of the tragic consequences of Britain's disintegrating roads

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 26, 2023
Mr. Pothole, my nickname, may be a bit of humour. However, there is nothing amusing about the tragic results of Britain's disintegrating roads. For the past decade, I've worked to raise concerns about potholes' dangers. It all started when I came across a particularly bad example near my house and started calling for road repairs in my local area. This snowballeted into a national crusade, during which I've coerced councils to fill thousands of potholes.
