The Detroit Pistons selected him with the second overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft, making him the second Swedish-born basketball player (after Miles Simon) to be selected in the NBA draft.
Early life
Jebko was involved in numerous sports growing up in Sweden, but basketball was his forte, but he excelled at basketball. Since there was no one else involved in the sport, having parents who played basketball was beneficial for Jebko.
Jebko, a student at the University of Buffalo in 2005, decided to play basketball at the University at Buffalo in his father's hometown. He essentially gave up a basketball scholarship for a career.
Personal life
Jebko is the son of former Syracuse forward Chris Jebko, a Russian American who competed with Bor's Basket for five seasons before returning to the country. Jebko's mother played basketball for a long time. Jebko and his wife Johanna have two daughters and one son.

Professional career
Jerebko began his playing with second-tiered Swedish club Bors Basket in the 2005–06 season before moving to Plannja Basket, the first-tiered Swedish club. In 19 games for Boro's, he averaged 20.0 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks, as well as 10.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in 22 Plannja games.
Jebko migrated to Italy in 2007, playing for the team for two seasons.
In May 2009, ESPN analyst Fran Fraschilla rated Jerebko as one of the top European players in the 2009 NBA draft. Since the Swedish-born American Miles Simon, he was then selected with the 39th overall pick by the Detroit Pistons, becoming the second Swedish national player to be selected in the NBA. Jebko's NBA career got off to a rocky start in the preseason season; in a preseason game, he was accused of punching NBA veteran Jamaal Magloire in the chest. Both players were suspended for the first game of the regular season for the ensuing match. Jebko's hustle and tenacity made him a fan favorite in 2009-2010. During the 2010 Rookie Challenge and Youth Jam, he was selected as a member of the Rookie Team and Youth Jam. He appeared in 80 games (73 starts) for the Pistons as a rookie, scoring 9.3 points (.481 3FG,.313 3FG), 6.0 assists, and 0.99 steals in 27.9 minutes per game. He came in third in rebounds (6.0 rpg), fourth in blocks (0.36 bpg), eighth in minutes (27.9 spg), seventh in steals (0.9 spg), 10th in assists (0.7 apg). His 73 games as a starter rank second in franchise history, behind Kelly Tripucka who played all 82 games during the 1981-1982 season.
In a preseason game against the Miami Heat, Jebko strained his right Achilles' tendon. He continued to miss the entire 2010–11 season.

Jerebko signed with the Golden State Warriors on July 12, 2018. The Warriors defeated the Jazz 124–123 on October 19, he tipped in a shot against his former team with 0.3 seconds remaining. In a 110-103 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on November 13, he earned his 11th double-double with season records of 14 points and 14 rebounds. In a 120-116 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on December 22, he scored a career-high 23 points on 10-for-12 shooting with six rebounds in 21 minutes off the bench. The Warriors made it to the 2019 NBA Finals, where they were defeated by the Toronto Raptors in six games.
Jebko signed with Khimki of the VTB United League and the EuroLeague on August 14, 2019. According to reports, Khimki ended Jerebko's deal on January 23, 2021, owing to personal reasons.
Jebko left CSKA Moscow on March 30, 2022, for the remainder of the season. The announcement of the signing came a month after the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, was met with scathing criticism in Sweden. He was quickly suspended from the Sweden national team, and at least one of his main sponsors terminated his employment.
National team career
Jebko made his debut with the Swedish national team at the age of 18 and has since played for them at the 2013 EuroBasket qualifiers, 2022 EuroBasket qualifiers, and 2023 World Cup qualifiers. Jerebko's Swedish national team had him barred from joining CSKA Moscow in the spring of 2022.
