Jon Kortajarena Redruello (born 19 May 1985) is a Spanish model and actor.

He has worked with Just Cavalli, Versace, Giorgio Armani, Bally, Etro, Trussardi, Diesel, Mangano, Pepe Jeans, but particularly H&M, Zara, Guess, and Tom Ford for his consecutive years with the brands.

Personal life

Jon speaks Basque, Spanish, and English. He attended an ikastola school until he was ten years old, but after returning to school, he began enrolling in public, private, and Catholic schools. His mother is a hairdresser, and she often styles his hair. If he weren't modeling, he would have been a full-time actor; however, he does know that interior design and photography are two fields he has always been curious about. He enjoys watching films, reading books by Hermann Hesse, sunbathing, going to the mountains with friends, and listening to music. He describes himself as a "absolute romantic." Perfume, Elisabeth Kübler-Ross' The Wheel of Life, and Siddhartha are two of his favorites books. Luke Evans, a Welsh actor, appeared on Kortajarena between 2014 and 2016.

Jon Kortajarena Career

Career

Kortajarena was born in Bilbao, Biscay, Basque Country, Spain. He was discovered in September 2003 while vacationing in Barcelona with a friend who was invited to attend a fashion preview. A booker noticed him and advised him to try the fashion world for the first time. Roberto Verino's first professional appearance was in a Madrid Fashion Week show. He left Bilbao, his hometown, and entered the Paris fashion industry. Kortajarena became Roberto Cavalli's spring campaign in 2004, when he first began his career at the age of 18. Emporio Armani and John Galliano made his international fashion debut during Milan and Paris fashion weeks. Steven Meisel photographed him in New York two months later for Versace. Kortajarena's other runway experience includes walking for Bottega Veneta, Dolce & Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo, Carolina Herrera, Giorgio Armani, John Galliano, and Chanel in Milan and Paris. Kortajarena appeared in a commercial for the sugar-free Fanta Z "Mediterraneo," a TV commercial in 2005 that ridiculed the defunct Fanta Lite. However, it's content drew scathing criticism in Britain and eventually became restricted to the post-9 PM broadcasts.

Kortajarena began working with Guess in 2007 and extended his deal in 2008. Terry Richardson photographed Kortajarena for Tom Ford alongside Noah Mills and became the label's signature male model for the next three seasons with new campaigns. He appeared on the front page of L'Officiel Hommes magazine in spring/summer 2008, devoting him 200 pages, with the headline read: "200 Pages of Fashion with Jon Kortajarena."

It was the first time a male model had achieved this feat, and it became a model in the industry; Andres Velencoso and Arthur Sales were among the other male models to follow such honor. For the 2009 spring men's wear and eyewear advertising campaigns, Jon was art directed and photographed by Tom Ford himself.

Forbes published its list of the World's Top 10 Most Influential Male Models, placing Kortajarena in eighth place on June 26, 2009. By German GQ in November, Kortajarena was named Model of the Year. Marie Claire of Spain has been named "Prix de la Moda" for 2009. He was named the Best Spanish Model for 2009.

H&M, True Trussardi, and Esprit advertising campaigns are now into 2010, and Kortajarena modeled alongside Alexa Chung for Pepe Jeans' fall/winter campaign. He was in the Next fall/winter campaign, as well as Emanuela de Paula, who debuted on September 10th.

He was selected as one of the models to model in Lacoste's $66 million new advertising campaign, "Unconventional Chic" in 2011. Models were shot by Mert and Marcus in a classic white Lacoste polo shirt worn over eveningwear. Anja Rubik and compatriot Andres Velencoso appeared on the front page of Vogue Spain in March 2011. Kortajarena was chosen as the protagonist of Roberto Cavalli Men's Spring/Summer 2012 runway, according to the Palazzo Serbelloni in Milan, and he was described as "an icon of charm and masculinity." For the third time in a row, David Yurman was the face of the city of London, and legendary photographer Peter Lindbergh captured him.

In one episode of Amazon Prime Video's 2020 Prime Video series Tales from the Loop, Kortajarena played Alex.
