He is best known for his role as Detective Marcus Bell in the CBS series Elementary.
Life and career
Hill was born in Waukegan, Illinois. During his high school days, he played football and the saxophone before deciding on pursuing an acting career, enrolling in a summer drama program at Northwestern University. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Illinois. He appeared in stage productions of King Lear, Six Degrees of Separation, and Ain't Misbehavin' while studying at the University.
Hill was nominated for the Joseph Jefferson Award for Actor in a Support Role in a Chicago theater Company production for "The Tempest."
Hill was nominated for the Best Featured Actor in a Play in Superior Donuts opposite Michael McKean in 2010. He started his role as Detective Damon Washington in the ABC police drama Detroit 1-8-7 in the same year. In addition, he appeared in Puck in the Shakespeare's In the Park production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
