John Middleton Life

John Middleton (born 7 September 1953 in Bradford, West Riding of Yorkshire) is an English actor best known for his role in ITV's Emmerdale as Ashley Thomas, a position in which he stayed from 1996 to 2017.

He has appeared in several other television shows, including Cracker "Men Should Weep" and most notable in 1993 as John Hargreaves in Coronation Street, the man who knocked down and killed Lisa Duckworth. Samir Rachid, Deirdre Barlow's late husband, was beaten up and killed by a gang of thugs two years later, he appeared in Coronation Street again, this time as a hospital consultant.

PC John Jarvis was his first Emmerdale role at the time of the 1996 FBI raid, before he was thrust into the role of the caring and sympathetic Rev. Ashley Thomas in December 1996. It was also announced on screen in October 2015 that Middleton would no longer be seen as Ashley after 20 years. Middleton's employment came to an end in March 2017, and Ashley died on April 7th, 2017.

ITV also posted a promo for a series of episodes from 3 April 2017 to 7 April 2017 titled "It's Time To Say Goodbye." Several pictures of Ashley and his Families and Friends are included in this collection. Ashley is slowly moving away from the pictures.

Middleton was seen in an early 90s UK television commercial for Swinton Insurance before appearing in both Coronation Street and Emmerdale. In an episode of the BBC soap opera Doctors, Middleton portrayed Feargal Lumsden.
